Am taking my family, including 2 1/2 yr and 6 mo. old granddaughters to WDW in April 06. Planning to stay at BC, since we'll have 6 adults as well (thought there's some good things to do in that area). But, we'll be spending a lot of time at MK. I know the bus is recommended transportation. But, I'd lreally ike to take the grandchildren on the monorail. We'll have park-hopper tickets, so is it feasible to walk from BC to Epcot and catch monorail there to MK?? (how long/far?). Or, should we stick to the bus. Thanks for any advice.

You can certainly do that, but realize that it's a LONG walk. Also, the monorail from Epcot stops at the Ticket and Transportation Center and then you must switch monorails to get to the MK.

Welcome to the DIS! :earsboy:

DisneyAG is right. But not only is it a long walk, but the monorails themselves, and the transfer can take a long time too. The bus really is the way to go. Buses can take a long time from the EPCOT resorts, but at least you get to sit most of that time. The walking to the monorail route to MK will take at least 80 minutes, if not a full 2 hours. It took us closer to 2 hours when we tried it. The bus ride is probably 35 minutes tops, even with a wait for the bus. But if you are already near the front of EPCOT at the time you decide to hop over to MK, then this might make sense to try. But from BC, I wouldn't do it.

If you really have your heart set on riding the monorail, you might consider leaving MK early one evening and getting on the resort monorail and riding to one of the MK area resorts and eating at one of their restaurants.

I would take the bus to MK and at some point just take a ride on the monorail.

You could schedule a meal at one of the monorail resorts or just take a spin on the monorail.

Your plan would work, but I agree with disneyag; it is a long walk.

When staying in the Epcot area, I like taking the monorail back from MK to Epcot and taking a nice leisurely stroll through World Showcase. This might work well for you if you are going when MK closes earlier than Epcot.

You can catch the boat from the YC dock and take it to EPCOT then walk through EPCOT to the other side of the park and catch the monorail. Walking through EPCOT is really enjoyable anmd would be fine in the start of the day. Then, I'd take a bus home for an
easier trip.

But it is as far a walk to the YC dock as it is to the IG so this won't save any steps and will take longer.....walk, wait for boat, boat ride to IG.

BTW, the buses from Y&BC are faster now. They usually don't share with other resorts any longer.

We ususally walk to the International Gateway and on to Future World and the monorail to the MK. We enjoy the walk (even with all the walking you do at WDW). The Monorail is a special experience, so whatever you decide, be sure it is in your plans.
Enjoy

Maybe- I think it depends on where they're located at the BC. Also- if they're wanting to try different modes of transportation this would be a good option. I heartily agree though, that it won't save them any time at all- it probably will take longer 'cos those boats are so darn slow!
