We will be visiting Disneyland this summer but first my teenagers want to have a day at 6 Flags Magic Mountain.
My husband will drive to Disney in our car after they finish their day at 6 Flags, but I am not a fan.
What would you recommend for transport if myself and the 9 year old want to go earlier. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel and I would love to get there in the morning, enjoy lunch at Tangaroa Terrace and spend the rest of the afternoon at the pool.
There is no point in renting a car as I don't drive.

Do you realize how far that is? Even in light traffic it's over an hour's drive. Maybe he can drop you off at the Valencia Town Center mall and pick you up when they're done.

Six Flags and Disneyland are almost 70 miles apart so you may be looking at a very expensive Uber ride! Maybe you can find a flat rate town car or something similar to take you and your youngest? I don't think public transportation would be an option.

The best bet would probably be to take Metrolink to Fullerton (Antelope Valley Line to Orange Line) and then take an Uber from the Fullerton or Anaheim station. Probably about 2 and a half hours I would say based on the Google Maps trip planner (which includes a bus from the Metrolink station to Disneyland, but I think Uber would be just as cheap and faster).

I should have mentioned that I DO know it's over an hour drive and nearly 70 miles. That's why my husband is not doing the drive to Disney and back to 6 flags, then back to Disney. I definitely do not want to go shopping though.
I have never used Uber though?

I don't mind taking public transportation, if it got me to Disneyland faster. We won't have luggage with us, just our swimsuits. I will check Google and download the Uber app.
Thanks!

In looking at it again, it looks like the Orange line runs primarily late in the day, so if you want to leave in the morning, you would take the Antelope Valley Line to Union station and switch to either Megabus or the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. This looks like the best route to me: https://goo.gl/maps/TDeJwc7rW7E2

Another alternative for the second leg would be take the Antelope Valley Metrolink to Union Station, then walk or Uber/taxi from the Station to one of the pick up points in downtown LA for the 460 bus, which drops off right at the transit center at Disneyland. It's super slow, but it runs much more frequently than the train:

We actually took the 460 bus when we went in December 2015, because we flew into LAX and spent a day at the science museum at Expo park before going to Disneyland.

Uber is gonna by far gonna be the fastest and most convenient way to go short of a private car service.

From Uber's Fare Calculator:

Six Flags to Disneyland:

  • uberX $76-101
  • uberXL $135-180
  • UberSELECT $201-268
  • UberBLACK $285-379
  • UberSUV $348-460
  • UberLUX $407-537

Where will you be before Six Flags? You might be able to leave from there and bypass it altogether.

I would just take a cab. It's a good drive, but messing around with getting to train stations and meeting timetables, then you still need transport from Fullerton or Anaheim to Disneyland... I wouldn't mess w all that. $100 cab ride and you're there. Take it easy, spend your day in Downtown Disney not various means of transportation.

Or... are you there early? Have your husband drop you off. Sure it's a long drive but it's no longer than a long commute. If you're there super early and beat the traffic he can be back to Six Flags before they open.

We are driving to Valencia from Las Vegas, then to Anaheim the next day. We are driving from Canada so DH will have had a couple long days driving just to get to Las Vegas. I've booked a hotel in Valencia for one night. They will spend the next day at 6 Flags, then drive to the Disneyland Hotel. I have no interest in 6 Flags at all but the teenagers like those big roller coasters.
It looks like Uber may be the best choice and I will be looking for a promo code closer to our trip.
Thanks for the ideas!
