Just starting to think about the easiest/quickest/affordable way to get to our ADR's and SW. (With time estimates.)

Here are the details: family of five, staying at POR, Nov. 12-20

Most of our ADR's we will use Disney Transport as timing isn't as much of an issue, we have used Disney transportation before and realise the timing needed for getting from resort-to-resort, but several I am wondering if it wouldn't just be better to get a cab.

7:15am-Chef Mickey's (thinking cab) we are not a morning family, enough said!!
7:25 pm-Yachtman Steakhouse- we will probably do Disney Transportation-wondering what connection would be the easiest to make POR-Park??-Yacht Club. Can you walk to any parks from here?
Seaworld-Is it straight forward to go to DTD and pick up public transit from there? How much time does this take? Would like to be at Seaworld for opening. Should we find another way to get there?

TIA for any suggestions or help

Chef Mickey's - not a morning family? Cab, absolutely!
Yachtsman - bus to DHS, walk or boat to Yacht Club (alternative: bus to Downtown Disney, bus to YC)
SeaWorld - my opinion only, but combining WDW transportation with Lynx is "bulky" (not the right word, but I'll change it when the right one hits me). Too much time and energy getting places, transferring... I'd take a cab.

I agree!

Bus to DTD and then Lynx is awkward and time consuming, the hastle is not worth the savings.

Also, you would not get a bus from POR to DTD to connect to Lynx to get to SeaWorld at opening. Early mornings buses are heading to parks, and DTD service starts a little later in the morning and infrequently at that.

For a 7:15am ADR at Chef Mickey's a cab is going to be your best bet. Otherwise, you'll be out at the MK bus stop by 6:15, getting on the first bus (hopefully) that comes by 6:30 and getting to MK and then walking over to the CR. Nope, take a cab.
For your Yachtsman ADR, you can head to DHS and then either walk or boat to the YC. You can walk back to DHS or to Epcot from there.

To get to SW, I would actually head to the TTC and get the Lynx bus there. You can take the early MK bus, then monorail over to the TTC...do this around 7:30 or so. The Lynx bus takes exact change only and you have to let them know you are going to get off at SeaWorld, otherwise they don't stop!! Try www.golynx.com and get a schedule. I think it's the #50 route.

Seeing you're not "a morning family", I would definitely do cabs for CM and SW.
Taxi to SW will be approx $50-$55 and take about a half hour. That's only $10/ PP, pretty reasonable I think. You can take public transportation back if you choose and save some $$$ for your dinner at Yachtsman.
Taxi to CM approx $10-$15 and 10 minutes, and an extra hour of sleep!

For the Yachstman, (great choice) busing to DHS and walking or boat to YC is an option, but keep in mind that DHS closes at 7pm on all nights but the 15th, I don't know if the buses will be still running regularly to DHS so close to closing time.

If it were me I would plan that day at EPCOT and then walk or boat over to the YC via the IG.
If from another park just bus to YC.
If from POR I would take a cab approx $10-$12 and 5-10 minutes. Not to much to spend compared to what you will be dropping $$$$ for dinner for 5 at the Yachtsman. After dinner if you're done by about 8:30 you can go back thru EPCOT and take bus back to POR.

Cumbersome? A major PITA?
Yes, thank you! And 'awkward and time-consuming' works well, too - thanks, drew64! :teeth: I have GOT to start sleeping more on weekends!

I think this may overestimate the cost of a taxi to SeaWorld, while the other rates in the quoted response underestimate the cost of taxis onsite.

Since it appears (a) the OP plans to go to Yachtsman from their resort, not from a park and (b) that they prefer to use WDW transportation, I stand by my recommendation: POR -> DHS by bus, DHS -> YC by bus or Friendship Boat, dinner.

And goofy4tink's suggestion for SeaWorld seems the best compromise based on what the OP seeks.

I knew if I put my concerns/questions about transportation that the great DIS would respond.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to answer my questions. I can now make a somewhat better informed decision. Really the family won't know the difference as I do all the planning and they are none the wiser, whatever I choose!! lol
One more question, Is there a link to estimate cab costs? I was sure I saw that somewhere but in my pagesssss of info I can't seem to find it!!

Thanks again,
zarvgirl :)
