How would one get to Downtown Disney from the Transportation Center? My D was told you can't unless you walk to the Polynesian, but that doesn't sound right. Isn't the Transportation Center the hub of all transportation? My D had to walk to the Poly and then wait for multiple buses since they were all full. Just curious if they were misled.

Thanks!

Since parking is free at DTD, there is no bus service to/from any of the theme parks. The TTC is considered a theme park since its technically an entrance to both MK and EPCOT. They were not misled. DTD bus service is only to/from resorts.

If your coming from the Magic Kingdom and want to visit Downtown Disney you have three options.

1st, Walking to the Contemporary and getting on the bus to Downtown Disney. However it also shares bus service with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, so it could take a while.

2nd, You can also get on the bus to Saratoga Springs, then when you arrive there exit at the Congress Park bus stop and use the walkway to Downtown Disney.

3rd, Get on the bus for POR/POFQ and use the boat service to Downtown Disney.

Personally I would go with the 2nd option because it seems like the easiest and fastest one.

Years ago it was the hub for all transportation so I hear where you are coming from - and I remember years ago during the early part of the day while staying at the Poly we had to walk over to the TTC for a bus to DTD because the resort buses didn't start running to DTD until 4:00 from there but things have changed and really now the TTC is just a name for generic tickets and transportation not a transfer hub.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. We're new to DVC and will have to get a handle on how to get around. Is there a cheat sheet anywhere?

Thanks again for your replies!

No, there isn't, at least not an accurate one.

Someone might come around later suggesting a website called Our Laughing Place, but please let me warn you NOT to use their transportation wizard because it is, unfortunately, outdated. It lists routes that no longer exist, and ignores some routes that do exist.

But the good news is, you can post questions right here on the DIS about any specific "How Do I Get There From Here" questions ... if you have 50 questions and start 50 different threads, that's just fine ... you have many people here willing to help. We were all new to this stuff at one time or another!

Sounds like a good iPhone app idea to me! ha, ha (Not that I would know how to do that, but someone else might!!)

Thanks for your reply, CleveRocks.

Generically, you have to go to a resort first and go to Downtown Disney from there.

From the Transportation & Ticket Center you would take the monorail (or walk) first and then take a DTD bus from the resort (Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary) you got to.

If you have the time, definately do the bus to POR or POFQ and then take the water taxi down. It is a wonderful ride, then you can always take the DTD bus back to your resort.

Enjoy - I stay at POR every year, and I take the water taxi down every night. Depending on the time of day, you will see all different kinds of birds and sometimes, even some crocs.....on the golf course, in the evening.

There are no buses available to any resort hotel or to Downtown Disney from the Transportation and Ticket Center. The only on-property bus transportation there is to Animal Kingdom, Studios and the water parks.

All resort bus stops are at the Magic Kingdom itself. If you are facing (entering) MK, the bus stops are located to your right, toward the Contemporary resort. To go from MK to any resort that has bus service, you need to use these bus stops. To go to Downtown Disney, you have to use a resort to transfer, or go to a resort within walking distance.

Try this one. It is still a work in progress. You may have to sign up to see it, but its a free registration.
To use it, simply go across the top to the park you are at, then drag your finger down, to the park you are trying to get to. The directions are in the box.

Before someone say anything, there is a reason it was done the way it is. There is more than one way to get from point a-b, but to keep it simple and to avoid confusion, I put it the way it is.

The resort side, I am still working on, and I need to get to the parks and resorts to confirm a few things, so I dont accidently send someone in the wrong direction.Hopefully that will be in the next week or 2.

I like to try new ways of getting around each year that I go. Once you get the system down pat, it is amazing how many different ways you can get around.

Of course, I am usually by myself, so it is easy to be more flexible....
