Transport to resorts from Amtrak station?

We are traveling by train to Disney in August as I am afraid and flying...well, will do it if I absolutely HAVE to and I don't really want to spend 12++ hours in a car w/3 young'uns...that being said, we are going to take the Amtrak from Eastern NC (Rocky Mount) to Kissimmee (instead of Orlando as I originally planned...heard that Kissimmee has better station and is closer). Does anyone know if there is a service that will do a transport from train station to our resort? We will be staying at either the Swan or the POR...will make final decision w/in next 2 weeks.

I didn't make prearrangements but took a cab (van) which was right outside the door. They usually meet the trains. The guy we used was excellent so I asked for his card and called him for the return trip. He was so nice, polite, prompt, and helpful we kept his card and used him the next two trips. I haven't taken the train down since my son started flying so I don't know if I can locate his business card or if he's still in business. If I find it I'll let you know.

If you don't want to take a cab waiting at the station I'm sure Mears is willing to arrange one for you.

We always use a towncar service. Do not use Mears in association with Amtrak. My mother and I did this once and made prearrangements with them as well as paid for the pick up prior to arrival. When we got to the station they told us it would be about 3 hrs before anybody could get us. The station master told us that it is always that way with Mears there since they primarily service the Orlando airport. We ended up that day using a taxi and made out fine and used them again on our way back.

We always go now by Amtrak and detrain at Kissimmee. Most of the time there is a line of taxi.s, if not, station master will call one for you. Last time he did this for us and he arrived in about 10 minutes, private outfit, very clean and a van type taxi. His name was Freddie, nice man, and we asked for his card for our return trip also. Believe fare from station to Poly was 37.00. We have had the cab stop for groceries, we know exactly what we want and the driver shut off his meter while we were in the store, we didn't dwaddle around knowing he wasn't charging us and we tipped him accordingly. Believe Yellow Cab, lets meter run but at least you get your supplies enroute.
