Hi,

dh and I are booking a short trip to universal staying at the Cabana Bay at the end of September. Any time we've previously visited Orlando we've stayed on site at Disney and had a hire car as we've been there for 2 weeks, but this trip we're only going to be visiting universal so can't justify paying the money for a car.

What are your recommendations for getting from Orlando international airport to Cabana bay resort? Is there a particular taxi company/driver you like or are the shared shuttles fairly reliable?

Thanks :-)

I always use Tony Hinds transportation company

He does single way and round trip service for a fair price
Also he gives a free grocery stop

He meets you at the bottom of the escalators near the baggage carousel
And parks his vehicle inside the airport
Minutes from luggage area

that's brilliant thank you :-) I'll look into both of them

We just hired Tiffany Towncar for our upcoming mid-Sept trip. I'll be happy to report back on how it went. :goodvibes

We always hire a car, but friends who have used him can't recommend Tony Hinds enough.

Reliable and friendly. And won't rip you off. Priceless.

We just used Uber. Took some extra effort as they aren't allowed to pick up at MCO but it was $35 ($16 for our return trip- better time of day).

We've only used taxis and Tony Hinds. We'll never use taxis again. I'm sure the other services recommended here are great, but we're going to stick with Tony, since we've had great service from him (once he had a different driver use his van, but that driver was great as well). If I was going solo, I'd price compare an Uber ride, but with children involved, I'm sticking with what we are comfortable with. Good luck and have a great vacation!

Thanks for your feedback everyone. Has anyone had any experience using the mears shuttle? It's coming out as the cheapest option so far but if it isn't good then I'll avoid it.

I usually have Tony Hinds, but I wound up using Mears when I was there in January to get to the Hard Rock, and I hated it. They pack you in a van, and if you are the first person to get in the van, you could have to wait for a while until the van is full. When the van left, we stopped at four or five other resorts all over the convention center/International drive area before heading the Hard Rock (last stop). I was sitting in that van well over an hour. In my opinion, it is worth pay a bit more to get private door to door service.

when i gave you a 'like' TLinden16 it wasn't for the suffering you went thru in using Mears but a 'like' for stating the difference of ease of getting from one place to another by car service rather than a shuttle van.

when someone is on vacation, the last thing they want to deal with is a loss of time for the parks.

We've booked Tony hinds :goodvibes there have been so many recommendations for him that I thought we'd be silly to go elsewhere!

We just used Mears on July 4. We didn't do the shared van service though. They were excellent. On time. the cars were clean. There pricing was reasonable. I just booked them again for August 18.

We used a taxi. It was about $35/one way not incl tip. Quick and easy. Should mention it was a couple of years ago.
