Universal held a cast members event on Wednesday for Transformers. They got an overview of the ride, food, raffles, pics with Bumblebee and a ride poster. The big feature was supposed to be announcement of when cast ride previews would begin but that was postponed. This likely means a soft opening is still a ways off.

Aww man. Heading there in two weeks. I was letting myself hope a tiny bit for a soft opening. I guess it's a reason to go back at a later date!

I am curious if this ride will be exactly the same ride as the one I had at Universal Studios Singapore. I am guessing it is.

According to a few different places, its supposed to be real close. The difference is supposed to be in the projectors.

The annual pass newsletter I got, said that the ap holders will be getting an announcement on May20th (I think thats the date off hand) for a pass holder preview. The preview will most likely be soon after that date.

May 28th is the day passholder ride times will be announced.

A pretty reliable insider on another website said the softs could start any day now. I believe most people are thinking starting this Monday.....(could be wrong/dont hold me to it)

And someone promises to start a thread here where folks can alert us to the softs when they are happening, right??? Pleeeeease???? :)

That's the problem...no one knows when soft openings will occur. They can be at any time...for an hour or all day and not every day. There's just no way to know right now. Hopefully it will become clearer in the next few weeks.

Believe me, as soon as anyone hears about a soft opening, it will be making headlines on this forum.

I agree. When WWHOP opened, there was no ryhme or reason and they definitely didnt follow what was supposed to happen. If you were lucky enough to be near the ropes when they dropped them you got in, regardless of where you were staying, express pass, or annual pass. It was basically a free for all. If you were on the other side of the park or in US, you would never have known.

I was at the Terminal B Universal Orlando store on May 4. While I was there, I overheard an employee ask another if they would be at the Transformers event on June 16th. Don't know what exactly what that was about, but maybe cast members have another preview coming???

So, that is what the "big event" was while we were there. USO closed very early (6 p.m.?) and they were setting up some very elaborate entertainment venues. In fact, the DW was very excited to catch Alecia Keys rehearsing, along with two other (I guess) name acts. I didn't recognize any of them, being a Bluegrass fan.

They had very comfy-looking living room style chairs set up on the greens near the main stage, more stages set up throughout the park, and they were setting up wine bars near the Transformers back area (near Mel's). They also appeared to be setting up open bars near the main stage too. The next day we asked the Team Member at the boat landing (while waiting for a return trip to Portofino) what happened the previous evening. She stated that it was an appreciation event for Citywalk Employees. She said that Universal was a very good company to work for. My wife agreed with her on this, as her employer never shut down the business early and set up bars and top-name entertainment for them!

We were over at US today and walked thru the shop at Transformers. The wall that was there for the ride exit is gone and a roll down gate replaced it. We could hear the ride running and apparently it was stuck as we heard the please remain in seated...... announcement . The ride started right after that and you could hear clapping from there.

Unless it's June already, I don't believe so. It might've been something else related to it, though, like the "big wigs" preview or something.

OK, I was just relaying what the lady at the water ferry dock had told me. Apparently I must look/be pretty gullible.

Here's the scoop - the park was rented out by the Blackberry group for the kickoff celebration of their Blackberry Live Conference.

That must have been some registration fee for this conference!

On a good note about losing several hours of park time, my wife decided that she really liked The Alabama Shakes, although we'd never heard of them before. Kinda a middle river blues/zydeco blend that's not too unpleasant for a bluegrass fan like myself to listen to.

SO THAT'S WHY USF CLOSED EARLY ON THE 14TH!!!! I was wondering what would make a theme park like USF close at 6 p.m. during a non-holiday season (like HHN). I thought maybe some graduation-related event was taking place because I saw the "Grad Bash" decor back by Disaster when I was there on May 7. Thanks for clearing up the mystery. :)
