Hello! Can soemoen explain transferring points? If you are short soem points for a year can other DVc members transfer points into your account much like renting? Is the typical price $10 per point like on renatls? Does this ever happen on the rent/trade board?
Are there any restrictiosn to the transferred points?

Thanks as always!

Yes you can do exactly what you described. I recently rented some points to finish off a reservation for a relative who we are are taking with us on a trip.

You are allowed to either transfer in or out in the same year. So if you transfer some points into your account, later in the year you will not be allowed to turn around and transfer them out.

The points are supposed to keep their original use year and home resort priority but the Disney computer system does not do a very good job of tracking that. I tranfered some BCV points into my account but they ended up listed under my VWL contract, not my BCV contract. It took a few calls to straigten out so that I could use them at the 11 month window at the BCV.

The in and out only applies to the same members, therefor, you can swap home resorts. It does allow you to transfer in 20 points from person x and than later in the year transfer out 10 points to person y.

Not if I understand you correctly. A single member can only transfer in OR out once in a use year regardless of who is on the other end. Apparently they've laxed the rules a bit and are allowing multiple transfers in the same direction for any given use year.

That is my understanding as well. They have changed the rules in the past and I have no doubt that they have a hard time keeping track of transfers so maybe if you are thinking of trading, a call should be made to MS to check.
