Transferring HH Contract

I have 100 HH points that I am gifting to my niece. I've recieved the deed from the county in S. Carolina. We also have the completed "Right of Refusal" letter from DVC member services. My question is this; do I actually have to go to S. Carolina to have the deed transferred and recorded in my nieces name or is this something I can do from home (New Jersey)?
I am hoping I can handle this myself and not have to pay a lawyer.

Find a title or closing company to handle the filing for you. A lawyer is not going to do it -- it would be assigned to a paralegal or title clerk.

Just call the county courthouse, speak to the registrar of deeds and see what is required. You need the recording amounts and address. You can do a quit claim deed or take your old deed and make a new one with the changes. Regardless, it would be farily easy. This was the address a few years ago when I handled a Grande Ocean Purchase myself.

We used U.S.A. Timeshare Servcies, Inc in Myrtle Beach, SC for our HH resale closing. (1-843-497-1191).

Recording fees for the closing, paid to Beaufort County, SC were:

Transfer Fee- $19.50
County Fee - $8.80
State Fee - $20.80

This was 4 years ago, but should offer some light on the typical fees. You don't need an attorney and certainly don't need to travel to SC to have the deed recorded. The closing company should be able to walk you thru the process.

If you're determined to use a company to do this, consider Timeshare Transfers who will do it for $250 including deed and an allowance of $50 for closing. I doubt you'll get it any less than that. But for you situation, you should easily be able to do it yourself.
