Transferring from 3 different Contracts

Can I make one transfer combining all the points from my 3 different contracts? All same resort, same use year, and same member number.

I was told that an owner can transfer points from their membership to another membership from any or all of their contracts, as long as it is done in the same call to the same owner,

For example, I have both RIV and SSR in one of my memberships. If I wanted to transfer 50 RIV and 50 SSR to you, DVC would allow it because it is one transfer out of my membership of 100 points to your membership.

What i was told I can not do is transfer 50 RIV to you, and then 50 SSR to a different owner, even if it was the same call because that would be two transfers as the destination was different memberships.

So, if you have 3 contracts, with say 100 points each and want to transfer all 300 points, you should be able to do that, but only in one transaction to one other owners account

I have not done it but did call last year to get specific info.

Yes, one transfer to one other owner is what I was talking about. Guess I’ll have to call DVC and see what they say as I cant find anything on their website.

The rules...which are in the Home Resort Rules and Regulations document on the website...do state it’s one in or out of your membership, so it shouldn’t...and I was told it doesn’t...matter which contracts you pull from if there is more than one.

Keep us posted if you get a different answer,

Yes if it’s the same membership (UY), you can transfer points from different contracts/home resorts within that membership to another single member in one transaction. That counts as your 1 transfer per UY.

DVC Members are allowed ONE transfer per Use Year, per Membership. If the Membership is comprised of multiple contracts (whether one resort or multiple resorts) the transfer may combine as many of the total points in that Membership as desired. Once that transfer has been completed to another DVC Member, no other transfers (either in or out) will be allowed for that Membership/Use Year.

It is possible for DVC Members to transfer to/from the current and next use Year so that TWO transfers could be made with the same phone call (Transfers currently cannot be made online).

Unless the receiving Member has the same Use Month and Home Resort, the transferred points usually cannot be viewed or accessed online, so making reservations using those points can only be accomplished by calling MS.

Once transferred, the points may be banked into the next Use Year.

This is all true except transferred points are now available to view and use online, despite being from a different UY or home resort, which is a fantastic recent IT change. The only thing is that it seems the points can only be used online at 7 months rather than 11 months, unless others have had success booking with transfer points online at 7-11 months?

I purchased transferred points for 2019 UY which consisted of more than one resort from the same owner, so yes you can transfer in one transaction multiple contract points from the same membership to another member. They retain the UY and home resort priority of the original resort.

OK. Y'all lost me. If I transfer from contract C to contract A and from contract B to contract A, doesn't that violate the one in or out for contract A? I lost something somewhere,

The rule is one transfer in and out of a membership, not contract, So, if you have 3 contracts in one membership, you can transfer points from each one, at the same time, to one owner,

If you own 3 contracts, under the same membership, and want to transfer points from Contract A to one owner, and points from Contract B to another owner, even in the same call, you can not.

You do not transfer points between contracts so your above example doesn’t apply.

However, as an owner with two memberships, I can transfer Points between both more than once, from whichever contracts I want.

If I end up having two different memberships - one with my husband and one without - can I transfer points between those two easily? For example, if I purchase 150 with both of our names (so he is a blue card member) and then purchase the rest with just my name which will be the same Resort and UY as my current contract without his name (so I’ll have 3 contracts, all with the same Resort & UY but 2 in just my name and 1 with both of our names.):
- can I transfer points from my 2 contracts that are just in my name to the account with both of our names?
- and vice versa? (I realize I would have to pick which of my accounts the joint points go into, but could I still book a stay with all points that way? I don’t mind split stays, but the dining is a hassle and it could get annoying/confusing having a few points left over that wouldn’t be enough to book a night. I realize I could then bank them, but that seems like a lot to keep straight.)

Yes, as long as it is done all at once. Now, they have been allowing owners who have more than one membership to do it more often

Because you will be the owner on both, you should be given the flexibility to transfer more often

However, they don’t have to, and could hold you to the once a UY.

Just remember, transferred points can not be in banked or borrowed status.

And, once transferred, can’t be borrowed for a trip but can be banked.

For example, say you had a June UY and want to travel in December 2023 but wanted to borrow 2024 points for that trip.

You can’t have transferred your 2024 point from one to the other and then use those as they would need to be borrowed.

You would be limited to borrowing 50% if the contracts in that membership.

Other than that, it will work fine!

Thank you so much!!!
I think I confuse my guide when I start asking these types of questions! 😬
