Hope someone can help. How do you transfer points and what are the restrictions?

Thanks

You call member services and tell them you want to transfer points; give them the amount and the member number of the member to transfer points too. MS may ask you to follow up with a letter - they'll let you know.

I don't recall any restrictions on the amount of points, but you are only allowed one transfer in or out each year.

Actually that's only partly true. You can now transfer in as many as you want or out but not both directions in the same use year. The one per year is an old rule even though the change hasn't been put in writing to the general membership.

it is no longer restricted to one transfer per year.

now you can make as many transfers as you want in each use year, as long as you keep them in the same direction.

i.e. once you make an outgoing transfer, you can't accept an incoming transfer.

i actually have the latest official rules from the newest POS.
i meant to type these up for fellow DISers to take a look at.
look for that post soon.

Thanks for your replies. So does this mean you can do several transfers of small batches of points to different people? And do they all have to be from the same yearly allocation of points i.e. 2004 - 2005. Also, you can't transfer banked points - is that right?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is the only thing about our points that I know nothing about.

Yes you can do several transfers to different people. I am pretty sure you can only transfer current use yr pts.

Yes. But then you can't transfer in.

That is correct as well and my understanding is that you can not transfer banked points.

I have done a transfer into my account once and it wasn't difficult at all. Good luck.

Many thanks everyone - it's always useful to know about these things. :D

I just transfered my 6/1/2004 points to another member. So it's not just your current use year only.
