Can anyone help me with the ruling on this? We bought a resale this summer that happened to be a different use year. I'm still trying to get used to what impact this will have on us...

I had some problems/confusion booking a consierge vacation to Boston Harbor (coming up in a weeek!!!!) that combined points from both of our accounts. I'm still a little uncertain...

Can you absolutely not transfer banked points from one account to the other? When we made the resale purchace we intended on doing this from time to time. Then, when I made the Boston Harbor ressie, MS initially told me that they could do it since they were both my accounts. Then, after I'd made other banking transactions based on this ressie, they told me that they could not ... that there was no transfering of banked points, but since there was confusion, and I had made other transactions based upon their initial approval, they'd make an exception. They made it very clear that they were quite displeased about accomodating my request, and that I should be grateful that they were allowing this ressie.

The only thing that I see in the member services book (pg. 26 of the 2001-2002 guide) is that "borrowed vacation points cannot be transferred to ANOTHER MEMBER." And nothing specifically about "banked" points (although I'm sure that what applies for borrowed would apply to banked.)

Does anyone else have experiences to share regarding this? It sure would help my poor troubled brain to have some clarification.

Thank You Neighbors,

Tig

They have always been good about transferring from one of our accounts to another when it was the obvious thing to do. The fact that they must make the CC, DCL (or whatever) reservation from one account is their internal situation and should not affect you. Obviously they are not going to do this on a whim but if your other choices are to borrow or not make a reservation as planned, it should not be an issue. Learn these words "I understand you have significantly more flexibility in transferring points between contracts of a single owner". Ask to talk to a supervisor next time if necessary. Keep trying until you get the anwer you want. This type of transaction will not give you added home resort priority if your contracts are different resorts and will not extend the life of points that are otherwise going to expire.

Thanks Dean,
