Transfer Question

I currently am planning an April 09 trip. My sister has decided to join us. We are both DVC members with a December Use Year and plan on staying at our home resort, SSR. We will need a 2 bedroom lockoff for the trip. I currently have a 1 bedroom reserved.

I know I will have to make a new reservation but my question is - my sister has 80 banked points that she wants to use. Can these banked points be transferred into my account now to make the reservation?

Also, she will have to use 2008 use year points to complete the reservation. How do we do that given the use year is not upon us yet?

Banked points cannot be transfered. Moreover, you do not mention the status of those banked points -- are they 2006 points that were transfered into Dec 2007 use year? If so, they cannot possibly be used for April 09 trip because they will expire November 30, 2008 and must be used by then. The only banked points that could be used for an April 2009 trip are those from the Dec 2007 use year that have been banked into the use year beginning Dec 2008. 2008 points (coming in December 2008) can be used for trip -- you don't have to wait for December to make a reservation; points that you can use for a trip are determined by date you will be at WDW not date you call to reserve so you can reserve now using those points (and could have reserved as early as May 2008, 11 months out.

As to actually making the reservation, you have some issues. You have reserved a 1BR. To change that to a 2BR will require a cancellation of current ressie and making a new one; thus it will be subject to whether a 2BR is still available for time you want to go in April. Also, way to make the kind of joint ressie you are contemplating when you cannot transfer is for you to reserve a 2BR for some of the nights using your points, your sister to reserve the rest of the nights using her points and then ask that the two ressies be linked. Best way to do that is have three way call with MS.
