Transfer points outside of bank window?

Can points be transferred that are no longer able to be banked? In other words, if someone has December UY and doesn't bank by July- Can they transfer those points as well- or they would only be able to rent them out or use them since they can't be banked?

You can transfer or rent a reservation using those points for a stay at one of the DVC resorts or DL resorts. If someone wanted them for a resort outside of the DVC or DL resorts I think the reservation would have to be made prior to the four months before check in date. If renting out the points for a reservation the reservation would have to be for a stay before the end of your use year since they had not been banked . Since they are supposed to retain their original UY and resort I do not think the points if transferred can be banked although I think I have read that people have done this. The person getting the points could use them for a stay prior to the end of the UY.

Not only can current UY points that are past the cutoff date be transferred, by all accounts, the person getting them in transfer could then bank them. You would haven't two separate master contracts would you?

No Dean, we don't - (but wishing **~~** we did) LOL I am asking because we are planning an unexpected trip in April at SSR w/ developer points- We bought AKV and can't use those until after May- for the time frame we plan in April we would need 225 pts for a 2br during Premier Time and we have 200- soooo it is either only do a 4 night trip and lose 20 "free" developer pts OR do a 5 night trip and get 25 from someone willing to transfer /rent them to us- I figured since it is such a small amount if I found someone who would be losing if they couldn't rent/transfer them I'd have a better chance to get the 25 pts we need for the last night- I spoke w/ our Guide today and he did put it in perspective for me- They are FREE points so if we have to lose 20 it isn't so bad - right? (trying to still convince myself of this) I also asked if we could "gift" the 20 pts to someone since we may have to lose them and the answer is "No"- Sooo no one else could use them but us and I hat eto see 20 pts go to waste- But, I'd like to make the Ressie's on Sept 12 for our April 12 trip- looks as though time is getting too close- We'll see...

I'd agree with your guide, losing a few free points isn't a big deal. If you could push your trip back so that part of your trip would be in May, you could then use your regular points. Good luck and enjoy.

Thx Dean- But I think 4 days will still be a nice trip and if May were a possibility we would go that route- April happens to be Spring Break for our kids here as well as DH so it works for us- Since this will be our first trip I count our blessings that we are getting to go at all! Now the next thing is to adjust our budget to fit in 2 trips in one year- LOL The tickets are taken care of as well as the resort stay, next is food, spending money (the big one), pictures, videos, and all of the "extra" special things I want to do while we visit the Mouse! Maybe have enough points transferred in to your account from someone else to get the extra night if you wanted to do so.
