Transfer points - could someone please explain?

I have 14 BCV points that will expire in Dec 2014. I would like to transfer these to a friend.
Here are my questions -
They only have SSR, different use year - would these points remain BCV or would they go into their account as SSR?

When would the points expire for them? Once I transfer are they able to bank the points or would they need to use them by Nov 30, 2014?

Do I call member services myself or do we need to do a 3 way conversation?

Transferred points maintain their resort and UY, so your friend will have 14 Dec BCV points (though sometimes weird things happen in practice, but that's the way it should work). Once the points are transferred, they can be banked, but by your banking deadline, which is July 31, right? Note that they can't be banked already to be transferred -- these must be your Dec, 2013, points, not banked 2012 points.

Now, since the points are a different resort and UY, your friend will not be able to see these points online, and will have to do all transactions related to them with MS by phone. Also, since only one transfer (in or out) is allowed per UY, neither of you can transfer other points using 2013 points.

You do not need to do a 3-way conversation. You need your friend's name, member number, and I believe home city.

It sounds as though these are points from your December 2013 Use Year. If so, they can be transferred into your friends 2013 Use Year and, at this time, only August/September/October and December 2013 Use Years remain. You can certainly check with MS, but points are supposed to be transferred only into the same Use Year (without regard to the month).

Your points also need to be current points from your 2013 Use Year as banked points cannot be transferred (same for borrowed points).

I'd give MS a call to see if your points can still be transferred or if they will allow a transfer of your 2013 points into your friend's 2014 Use Year (assuming his/hers 2013 UY has not already expired).

You can certainly transfer points from your 2014 Use Year into their 2014 Use Year - that would definitely be allowed.

The points will retain their original Use Year and Home Resort status. They will definitely retain their original Use Year and may be banked for use thru Nov 30, 2015 and once banked may be used for reservations at BCV using the 11 month priority.

Please let us know what MS will allow.

I don't think it has anything to do with the owners' UYs. They just get transferred and the points remain the same as it was prior to transfer. Like adding a second UY account to your membership for a brief period. I had 2012 points transferred in last year. I had already started my 2013 UY. The transferred points retain their Home Resort and UY. Same expiration deadline. However, I was told the banking deadline was not held to 4m prior to expiration. I banked well before that, so can't say whether this is true or not.

When your friend books with the transferred points, they will need to call in and specifically ask to use those points. They do not automatically show up on whatever MS is looking at when you call in. It's like they have to go find it.

I think MS is inconsistent on this, but it is a rule that was quoted to me when I was trying to transfer points. Basically, MS said that since my (in this case) 2013 UY has expired (I have March), I couldn't transfer Dec. 2013 points into it.
