We are a party of 7 who will be transferring from the Swan to the Saratoga Springs. We assume the 2 dads will go with all the luggage while the rest of us go on to Epcot, then meet up after the bags are dropped off.The Swan doesn't transfer luggage because it's not a Disney Resort.

What's the best way to do this, a taxi van from hotel to hotel, towncar? Lots of luggage, so we don't want to take bus to Downtown Disney and then bus to Saratoga Springs. Don't want to waste alot of park time, either...

I know someone out there has the answer.:worship: Thanks!:goodvibes

7 people must mean a lot of luggage....Would it all fit in one cab with both of the Dads? A cab is likely your most inexpensive option. You could try calling the Swan and see if they might be able to help you.. How long are you staying at the Swan? I would consider booking a Disney resort at a comparable price just to avoid this dilema. How are you all getting to the Swan when you arrive? I don't think ME goes to the Swan?

Are you sure they won't transfer your luggage for you?? I know of several people that have had their luggage moved from the S/D to a Disney owned resort.

But, I hate having my bags transferred..takes way too long. I would suggest taking a cab van...there are plenty of them at the S/D. The dads can do that first thing in the morning...go to SSR, drop the bags off with Bell Services and then head to a park to meet up with you all.

I have had my luggage transfered both to and from the Swan (or Dolphin) to and from a Disney Resort including Sarasota Springs.

Just call bell services in the morning and let them know what you need, head to Epcot and the bags will be taken to SSR but like the pp said they most likely won't arrive until after check in time.

Unlike the PP my bags have always been at the resort by the time I arrive to check in but I have always waited until at least 4pm to check into the new resort.

If you need some items right away then maybe have the men take just a bag or two with essentials to the SSR and let the Swan transfer the rest.

I phoned the Swan a few days ago to ask about luggage transfer to the SS, but they told me that since they are not a Disney owned resort, they don't provide the service. They suggested I try seeing if the SS would send someone to pick it up, but I haven't checked on that. Plus, I'd have to trust that someone did indeed come to pick it while we're at the park, then make sure it was available when we checked in :confused3(which would be after 4pm)...

When did you have the successful luggage transfer from the S/D to the SS?

Laurie...actually, if I were you, I would wait until getting to the S/D to decide what to do. Many, many times, we get incorrect info from those we talk to over the phone.
I just can't imagine that the S/D have stopped moving luggage for guests. That would mean that Disney wouldn't move luggage from a Disney resort to the S/D either. And that is going to make a lot of guests unhappy.

But, again...I like to have my luggage there, with me. So a cab would work best for me. But if you don't want to go that route, wait until you are standing there, in person, to make your choice. I think you will get a different answer.

I had my bags transfered from the Dolphin to SSR in January 2010. I have had my bags transfered from Swan to CR I would say just over a year ago in April 09.

I agree with PP - wait until you arrive to decide, the person you spoke with at the "swan" may hav been at a Sheraton/Weston call center rather than actualy at the Swan.

Thank you, my DISboards gurus!:worship: I'll wait until I can speak to someone in person.

Yes, talking directly to bell services will get you the asnweres you need :)

If you do have to use a cab they are plentiful at the Swan and shouldn't be very pricey to SSR. Even with lots of luggage most of the cabs have huge trunks and with just the two "dads" you can put some peices in the backseat so a typical cab should be fine.

I'm not sure what a cab will cost you, but you could also look into renting a car at the alamo or national right at the dolphin. Sometimes you can get a $40 rate. This way the Dad's would have time to drop all the luggage off, maybe pick up some groceries, drop the car back off and just walk over to Epcot and meet you.
