Transatlantic how is it different?

Thinking about booking the West Bound in 2023 and wondering how its different than a normal cruising as its 11 nights and mostly at sea.

There was a post a long time ago about it but can't really find it.

They have more main entertainment nightly through the cruise that is beyond the normal Disney shows correct? They also will have a couple guest speakers from my understanding. How about dinners do they special meals just for the TA routes?

I haven't done the transatlantic but I've done the Panama. There are new menus due to length of cruise and they add special shows and performers. On one cruise we had Susan Egan perform and give talks about her experience as Belle on Broadway and about her experience with Hercules.

Ballroom dancing classes were held (Mickey and the gang joined in with their formal wear). Cooking demonstrations are far more frequent and they did a daily breakfast show each morning. Characters tend to roam freely which is also lovely as the longer cruises are mostly adults and they don't get swamped.

On specialty cruises that are longer than 7 days, they always offer different menus each evening, without repeats. Two other things you might encounter is a backstage look at the theatre - we did it when we actually went backstage, and the newest version where you stay in the theatre but they do Q&A with the performers and have a camera show you around - and a Gold/Platinum reception. Those used to be on shorter cruises, but they restricted them to 8+ nights cruises I believe.

Menus are not repeated within the cruise. I’m pretty sure we just had a rolling repeat of the 3 restaurants. Definitely not just stuck in one after hitting the three.

For a look at various menus utilized on Disney cruises, check out Disney cruise line blog (no spaces) dot com. You can also find Navigators from past cruises.

There is an overall relaxed feel. Definitely enjoyed the wandering characters.

I’ve gone both directions. I don’t recall a night without a show in the Walt Disney Theater (reports are the theater has been dark on Night 1 on several cruises this year.). I think there have been crew talent shows in some.

Will you be getting an overnight in Bermuda?

It was super nice to also have more adult entertainment options. I was transatlantic in May. My 7th voyage and my second favorite cruise so far. (My first was magical).
I also didn’t feel the menus had a repeat. Other then the salmon and chicken on every menu. So I try to save that for times like pirate night.

What else were you curious about?

The menus are not repeated, and some are special in that you won’t see them on shorter cruises. For example there is a Transatlantic menu, there’s one called World of Flavours, one called Vista.

As everyone else has said, every night is a different menu. There is also entertainment every evening, the typical Disney shows, and also performers/comedians, etc. Guest speakers I’ve experienced were only on DVC member cruises, but I’ve only been on one transatlantic.

WBTA and WBPC are two of our favorite cruises. There are typically a lot fewer kids, but having one still club age myself, she loves them too.
