Tranferring reservation from travel agent to myself

It is allowed and happens more than most travel agents will admit. If you don't have confirmation by Friday, I'd cancel the arrangement with that agent. Call the agent and tell them you have to cancel. Then find another agency to work with to get your trip set up. It's real easy to find one that is an Authorized Disney Travel Planner. There are some that are associated with these forums as well as others.

Good Luck!

My only problem with that is that I'd lose everything. The trip is a little less than 2 months away so I'd lose the ADRs and I believe the rooms are more expensive now than when I first booked in early 2017. I'm sure I'd lose the deposit I sent her, too. I just really don't want to start all over. :(

ADR's are not tied to your reservation so you wouldn't lose them is you cancelled and rebooked.

You won't lose ADR's. They are not connected to room reservations. Have the reservation transferred back to you. She has made it clear you are not a priority. If the trip is transferred, you will lose nothing. If she tells you otherwise, she is lying.

You're right, of course they're not tied to the reservation! I don't know why I thought that... What about Fast Passes? I know resort guests can make them 60 days in advance and non-resort guests can only make them 30 days in advance. Since my reservation is greater than 30 days, will those be canceled? The only reason I care is because we're going with another family and we made sure we all had passes to the same rides at the same time.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm trying to do - have the reservation transferred to me. I'd rather do that than cancel but I'm having a hard time doing it. The Disney help line said they couldn't help and sent me an email address but I still haven't heard anything from them. I was hoping to do it without getting my travel agent involved but I'm running into all kinds of resistance any way I try it.

You've mentioned more than once about losing the deposit. WDW policy will not charge you a cancellation fee since you are outside of 30 days. HOWEVER, some TA's charge cancellation or change fees, and it sounds like this might be your concern. She may well charge that fee if you take control of the reservation. You'll need to check the TA's policies; WDW policy doesn't dictate the TA's internal fee structure. A good TA wanting to preserve her reputation should agree to release the reservation to you and waive any fees... but that's going to be at her discretion. And I believe she has to agree to release the reservation to you, which is why WDW can't just do it.

Just wanted you to know that TA fees may apply whether you cancel or not. Sorry you are going through this.

Enjoy your vacation!

china mom - Yes, she's with an agency but she's the owner and only one of 2 agents. Plus, she's supposed to be the Disney "specialist" of the two. I've used her before when I went to Universal and had great success so I'm flummoxed as to why this is happening. I think it's just best to leave all together.

And I made a payment via gift cards we received. She had me send the numbers and pictures of the back of the card. I had no problem doing this since I've used her before and trusted her but I asked for confirmation and got nothing. I waited a week then asked again but still nothing. I've sent a third email and hope to hear something soon.

And yes, my issue wasn't so much that she didn't book them but that she didn't even mention them. She previously told me that they set "alarms" so that they contact their customers for important dates. I emailed her before the 2018 prices came out and she said she would contact me when they did but several weeks after they came out, I had to re-email her and she said something happened with the alarms when they switched to a new system. Later, we went back and forth on ADR questions, with which she was initially very helpful, but then didn't respond to my final questions until the reservations could actually be made. Thankfully I had already booked because reservations to Be Our Guest and Akershus would have been doubtful at that point. Again, something about the "alarms". I never heard a thing about Fast Passes: no emails, no contact, no suggestions, nothing. She originally told me she would have suggestions based on the interests and ages of the children but not a word. Thank goodness I had done research on my own so that I could do it myself.

Sorry for the long-winded response! I guess I just needed to vent about my frustration and disappointment.

Since email doesn't seem to be working, why not call?

Hi, first time user here! I haven't been able to get this question answered anywhere else so I'm hoping someone can help! I searched the forum and couldn't find anything so I really apologize if I missed this somewhere else.

I used a travel agent that I'm having a lot of trouble with. My emails go unanswered for weeks, I booked my own ADRs, I ended up making my own Fast Pass reservations, and I haven't heard back from an email in which I sent her a huge payment to be applied to our trip.

I can't make payments on my own because the initial reservation was done through the travel agency so I'm trying to figure out how to take control of it. When I called the Disney help line, they said it could be done by sending an email to wdw.drc.iata@Disney.com and should hear back within a week but a) this seems to be only for transferring reservations TO a travel agent and b) it's been over a week.

Anyone have any experience with this? Please help! :)
I can't answer your question, but I'm crossing my fingers for you that everything gets worked out. I can't imagine how frustrating that might be.

If she gets your gift card payment processed, I'd just leave it alone even if she "can't" transfer your reservation to you. At this point, it's a hassle, and other than processing payments, you don't need anything from her. It would irk me too to get such poor service for no perceived benefit to you, and have her get paid for it. But at this point, just look forward to your vacation (as long as she actually gets those payments processed, sheesh!)

As soon as I made peace with not transferring the reservation (because you're right, at this point it's just more trouble than it's worth) she got back to me with information on how to transfer. It's the same email address I've tried twice before but we'll see if it works this time now that I added the information she told me to add (names, address, reservation #, etc.). Fingers crossed it's taken care of promptly. If not, I'll just tell her to process the payments.

If your trip is within 60 days, have you looked at the current discounts to see if you could get any other discount? Then you could just book a new reservation yourself & cancel with her. Just asking because you said you booked early last year. So I’m assuming you don’t have a discount already.

That’s not always true. I booked through a travel agent recently to get a 20% discount on a Poly standard view room this coming October. Doubt I’d be able to do that on my own.
Right on....we got a phenominal discount, and paid for DDP out of pocket and saved more than we would have with the PSD deal.

The whole thing sounds like a lot of work or worry no matter what you decide to do. But know this....it will all work out in the end! Best of luck, you will have a wonderful time!
