Trams down at MCO?

I can't help but think it funny that here people are all for walking, but on another thread people are having fits about having to walk in the Magic Kingdom parking lot because the tram service is slow.

Probably not the same posters.

I never take the parking trams anywhere unless I really have to. In most cases, I'd much rather walk from my car than wait for those stupid things. They take forever to load and move so slowly. But I'm probably more used to walking being the primary mode of transportation in my daily life than the average poster here.

Did they replace both of the trams on a given line simultaneously?

I would have thought it would be better to replace just one and let it break in for awhile and then replace the other.

There is a catwalk between the two tram tracks as an emergency walkway. Just from the looks, I can tell it would be brutal to walk it in the Florida summer humidity. I trust that the trackways are built in a way that if people had to use the catwalk and someone fell off, he would land on the trackway but not be in danger of falling off that too and tumbling to the ground.

There was another U.S. airport, I think it was Dallas-Ft. Worth, which had trams where, if someone pushed the emergency stop button inside, the doors unlatched and the tram eventually took everyone back to security to be rescreened.

We were arriving last week when it broke down. We were on the working one when we looked over and saw people were being walked off the broken down one. Had no idea how lucky we got that we were on the "right" one

They should ALWAYS allow people to decide to walk or wait for a tram. What difference does it really make to the airport? Less people on the trams. Less weight less wear etc. If the walkways were open, I'd walk it almost every time we arrive at MCO. WHY? Because it's a ten munute walk. Big deal. You have bags? Not too many since they have had to be cabin carry on compliant. And you have walk through the terminal WITH you carry on to get to the tram anyhow. So what's a little more of a walk? Especially for those arriving for Disney. You're going to be walking a whole lot more at WDW.
Geez the walk from your room to the lobby or bus could be as long or longer. Just saying.

Is there a walkway that is safe and out of traffic, or would the walk be along/across roads and parking lots? And in the heat or rain? Sure, 10 minutes not a huge deal for most people, but if I'm carrying my carryon bag, I've got a small child with me, it's the end of my vacation and I'm tired and I'm not expecting that I'm going to have to walk it, and it's outside and maybe not safe? Yeah, I'm not going to be a happy lady.
