I'm using the smart coach from runner's world website for my marathon training...what is everyone else using and how is it working out so far?

I'm using a modified plan from Jeff Galloway. This is what I used last year as well and it seems to be going well right now.

I've always said my mascot was the turtle - slow & steady to the finish. So, I wanted a plan that matched up---the penguin. Yep, I use the John Bingham philosophy of walk a little/run a little & waddle till you get it done. It has worked for 3 half marathons, so I'm sticking to it for my first marathon.

I'm using Hal Higdon's intermediate I program, and I modified it a little to make most of the shorter LRs on Saturdays about half of the LRs on Sundays to prepare me for Goofy.
Seems to be going well so far, but the LR mileage is starting to build up fast, so we'll see how the next few weeks go.

Hal Higdon's Intermediate 1 plan as a back drop and then made modifications based on knowing myself, what time I have, what my goals are(race the half, finish the full), and what I need to do to achieve them. Some perspective on it though- this will be half number 10 and marathon number 6 so... Not so worried about Goofy because 3 of my fulls and 6 of the halves were preceeded by swim-bike warmups so I habitually trained to run a little tired anyway.

I'm also using Hal Higdon's Intermediate I Schedule. In addition, I have begun monitoring my pace utilizing a heart rate monitor. Easy days are below 70% and hard days are over 85% max heart rate.

I am substituting a cross country marathon on the 19th instead of an 18 mile LR.

Hi everybody!

I'm a new kid on the block. I'm from Finland and we have this running school where we meet once a week for a run and they give us running programs to follow. This is my first half marathon and I have never liked running but now I'm getting in shape and it's more fun. You gotta try everything!
