Train Ride w/Thomas the Tank Engine Will Be In Tavares 4/13-15 & 4/20-22

If you'll be at WDW and looking for something different (away from the parks) to do April 13,14,15 or 20,21,22, you can take a 25 min train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine leaving from Tavares (about 1 hr from WDW). What is Day Out With Thomas™?
Day Out With Thomas is a family event that offers children and their grownups the opportunity to ride with classic storybook friend Thomas the Tank Engine™ at heritage railroads nationwide. Parents, grandparents and siblings join their aspiring engineers in the fun. The Day Out With Thomas experience will engineer miles of smiles for the whole family and introduce a new generation to the timeless excitement of railroading.

Will Thomas the Tank Engine be there?
Thomas the Tank Engine has traveled all the way from the Island of Sodor and has arrived Right on Time to take a ride with you and your family.

What is included in the ticket price?
A ticket for Day Out With Thomas includes the train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as a variety of Thomas & Friends themed entertainment, including Storytelling and Video Viewing, Temporary Tattoos of Island of Sodor friends, and an Imagination Station with Arts & Crafts and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, the Chairman of the Railway on the Island of Sodor.

What times do trains depart?
Trains depart at 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM and 5 PM.

How much are tickets?
Tickest are $16 for ages two and above.

There is also a Easter Bunny Express on Easter Sunday from Mt Dora:

Join us for an afternoon of family fun as the Easter Bunny rides the Mt. Dora Champion from Mount Dora to Tavares and back. Our floppy eared friend will hand out candy and pose for pictures with kids of all ages!

Train departs from our Mount Dora station Easter Sunday April 8 at 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Reservations are not required.

Adults $12.00, Seniors $10.00 and Kids $8.00 (plus tax).

We've done Thomas 3 times now. Nice relaxing day and kids love it!

We just did this in Texas and LOVED it. We had a great time. I highly recommend it to anyone that has young kids... They really did a great job with this.

We've done this twice and are actually doing it again on the day we leave for WDW..... We will do Day out with Thomas at 9 am and get on a plane at 5 pm for WDW.... My kids are spoiled.

We did this twice last year and ds loved it! We will be going back in June. Strangely enough, the September dates are out because we will be in WDW the entire run (2 long weekends, hee hee)!
We are also planning to go to the GSMR Day Out next year. My family lives in Bryson City so we'll make a reunion out of it!

I was lucky enough to be the lucky person who " drives' Thomas this past year when he visited us here in Ohio. My brother is the engineer on the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railraod and I was asked to help out. Thomas comes here for 2 weeks and it is always very busy. My Dd was never into him but its alot of fun to see the kids get so excited when they see him. It was also alot of fun to be a " girl" who was driving Thomas. Alot of little girls asked for their pics with me. I will for sure be doing it again this year!

We have done this the last 3 years with our son. But I think he has lost interest this year at the ripe old age of 5 Always a good time for us, even though the closest place is 2.5 hours away from us.
