We have annual passes and DVC points that will expire so decided to take an extra trip this fall to Old Key West.

Husband doesn't want to fly since he has seen power chairs destroyed on planes. I am tired of the solo driving of the van

SO we are considering taking the amtrak train to Kissimmee.
Have contacted Mears and they can get us a taxi from the train station to OKW.

Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences using the train and taxi option. We have always driven to WDW and you can see from my signature we have driven down a few times

Thanks
Linda

I assume you are talking about a power chair. Mears has some taxis which are vans with lifts. Call as far in advance as possible to reserve one, stating what train and date and the anticipated arrival time. Get the name of the person taking the reservation. The day before you travel call Mears again to confirm.

Don't forget to make a reservation to be picked up for your return.

Note that they only allowed to charge the same price for the lift van as a regular cab. In Orlando the rates are $2.00 for the first 2/8 mile and then 25¢ per addiitonal 1/8 mile, with no additional charge for additional passengers.

The taxi price we were quoted was quite a bit higher.
Wonder if has gone up due to the cost of gas these days?
