In the past I have done the "to-go" thing when we were there and they gave me 3 styrofoam containers for each to go order...2 small square ones for salad and desert and a large one for the main buffet. It was a great value....it was a trip when we were staying at the CR but my DSis and family were in the cabins at Ft Wilderness and eating lunch in their cabin....we wanted to spend time with them, but not mooch all their food, so I would stop in and get Trails End to go...plenty in 2 boxes for 2 kids and 2 adults (and some to share with the cousins!!),,,,handy and tasty.
We were there for breakfast last week and a woman at the table next to us was dining with her daughter and asked if she could get breakfast "to go" to take back to her son that had not wanted to get up and come with them....the waitress said "Sure. How old is he?"....she said he was 15 and the waitress said "Sorry, I'll have to charge you the adult rate" and they laughed about how it was still a good deal because he could eat more than the rest of the family put together.... They brought her 1 large and 1 small styrofoam container and she went to the buffet and filled them before they left.
I just assumed you could still do take out there....but maybe they just let her because they were dining in....not sure if anyone could walk up and ask for take out like you used to or not.
