Trail's End brunch time - WWYD?

Hi all! We are thinking of checking out Trail's End's brunch for our trip in early May (on a Sunday). There are TONS of times available, and I'm not sure which would be better. Should we do quite early (7:30-8am) and then head straight into MK, or should we take a break from MK (reservation at about 11:30am) and then go back? I'm worried about the amount of time it'll take to get from MK to TE and back. It's about an hour supposedly. 2 hours of travel time there & back is quite a lot. DH isn't a Disney warrior, so I'm leaning towards the later reservation. We do MK while it's slower, take a nice long break (we'd take the boat over), then head back later in the afternoon. But, will we be wasting the best hours of MK traveling & eating? I'd hate to take an hour to get back to MK (with my non-Disney-loving DH) to arrive at 2pm when it's crazy. Would we be better off doing Kona (always a favorite) or the GF café late breakfast instead? Again, DH isn't a huge Disney fan, so I'm trying to find some laid back ways to make it enjoyable for him since he's agreed to a couple days there with me. Large crowds and slow busses will just annoy him, whereas I let them roll off my back. Any thoughts, especially from folks who have done this, would be great!

I won’t choose between Kona and Trails End. That is up to you.
It is possible but not likely that it will take an hour travel time each way.
I would do early MK followed by late morning Brunch at Trails End

I would do the later brunch. I think brunch shouldn't be at 8:30am, although I'd eat fried chicken for breakfast no problem, I'd enjoy it a whole lot more after a few hours of walking around and working up an appetite. Plus I agree, RD is too precious to waste. Try adventureland, you'll have the park to yourself.

An hour from TE to MK?? No way! With exceptions of early morning, (sometimes evenings when Hoop de doo lets out) there's not problems getting on the boat. It's only about a 10-15min ride.

We did the brunch the last time we were there, but we won't again. Even eating at 10am I did not eat anything but breakfast offerings - just have so much capacity and no more - LOL
We love the breakfast there though, also the buffet dinner.

We have this booked on our departure day but I tend to agree with the consensus and say later brunch and then go back to MK

I would also do a later brunch. We love Trail's End. We like to go to the Fort- it's very relaxing. We like to eat at Trail's End- walk the beach- maybe rent a pontoon boat.

Haha, okay, that's fair. I can't ask anyone to say no to Kona! But I have eaten there multiple times recently, whereas I haven't done Trails End before (at least as an adult). It was the Disney mom's panel page that said it was an hour, which made me freak out. But I've taken the boat from Epcot to DHS and that takes half an hour with 4 stops, so I wondered if that wasn't exactly correct.

Great! Knowing that the time estimate was way off makes this much easier.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like the travel time estimate I found was pretty wrong, haha. I wondered, which is why I asked! Trail's End after rope drop it is. :D
