We decided to do Trails End for breakfast this morning.. something we made special trips last vacation for (staying at AS) and loved in previous trips at the fort as well. My absolute favorite was the corn beef hash and that was what I was looking forward to the most. The first thing I noticed walking up to the buffet was how anemic it looked.. the only fresh fruit was grapes and watermelon, (I remember melon, honey dew, pineapple, etc) there were two choices of muffin,(I remember an assortment pastries) but the unforgivable (for me, anyway) was NO CORN BEEF HASH. The waitress told me they took it off about a month ago and have had a lot of complaints but she doesn't foresee them adding it again. What used to be my favorite breakfast at Disney is no longer worth it. It wasn't worth burning a table service meal and it definitely wouldn't have been worth the $50+ it would have been out of pocket for the four of us.

I guess I have to find another favorite place to have corn beef hash (not easy to find).:eek:

I thought I read another thread talking about all the food less there- not just breakfast?
Anyway it's a sad state of affairs- our first time there and there will be sparse selection for food. I wonder if they are doing that at other resorts too OR if they are only doing it at FW because so many people are eating at their campground/cabin? Honestly we probably will eat in our TT because I just saw how expensive the buffet is there and it's certainly not worth it with less food!
I wonder if they realize it's a downward spiral? I mean if they took off a lot of food because more people were eating at their campground/cabin- do they think MORE people will eat there when it's less food offered for such a high price? I mean less and less people will eat there- then what? Close it completely? :(

Needs to be a counter service or anything besides a buffet.

I don't think it is only at the Fort. There's a thread on the restaurant boards talking about the end of breakfast at Boatrights, which will mean no TS breakfast at all at POR/FQ. :sad2:

I'm not sure about lunch and dinner since we had only ever even breakfast there before this trip. We have had dinner there twice in the past week and I wasn't unhappy with it, but I had nothing to compare it to either. I was just really disappointed in the breakfast.

I agree they need to offer some counter service here. That is my husbands number 1 complaint about FW.. he liked the offerings at the food court at AS.

All in all though the fort rocks!:)

Don't forget to post pic's of your trip.

OmG I just read on another thread that Trail's End is also on the list for the HIGHER prices starting May 25th (we arrive on the 23rd- figures right? LOL) with the "surcharge"! I can't believe they are including Trail's end- with less offerings on top of that- on the list of the ones with a higher price during June/July! I thought it would be like character buffets- this is really ridiculous to charge more and offer less food.

Yes, counter service would be better for us.... I didn't even realize there wasn't any counter service at all at FW. Ohwell, guess more cooking in the TT. ;)

I, too, am a fan of the corned beef hash. It is indeed a sad day knowing the hash is no longer available. TE has, however, responded to negative feedback in a positive way. While I don't expect we will ever see the selection at the breakfast buffet they once had, perhaps the hash will return. It doesn't seem like much to ask.

I read in one of our WDW E-mails that due to the economy, that disney was fix'n to restructure the menus thru out the parks to reflect peoples economic needs. Thats all they said,,they did not go into details.

But if I were to guess, that would mean they are going to serve a cheaper/lesser food items/products but still charge you the same high prices,

to help their economic bottom line. WooHoo Bobby I. :woohoo: !!

Please tell me the stickey buns were still on the breakfast buffet!!! Those were my favorite item. I asked last year if I could buy some to take back to our site but I was told that they only way you could get them was to order the buffet.

We noticed at Christmas that the buffet at dinner seemed to be getting more sparse in selections.

Hi,

We just returned from the Fort and we had the same complaint. TE was very sparse. Also, They got rid of the Buffalo chicken tenders (takeout) and replaced them with 6 chicken wings for $8.49. I made a very loud comment about how the wings cost $17 a dozen and that those chickens better be the size of pterodactyls. Many of the patrons heard me and laughed. I was approached by a manager named Ricky who immediately offered to make me the chicken tenders that I was looking for.
I made my opinions of TE known while we were waiting. And I said that many people would like a counter service area. A female manager (forgot her name) said "oh, we have a counter service area, but you need to take the boat over to the Wilderness lodge" My wife and I then teamed up on the 2 managers and advised them that they really needed a counter service area at the Fort , and that the quality of TE was slipping greatly. We asked why they didn't even have hamburgers and Hot Dogs at the Fort. I told him that many people are staying at the fort longer now and that they don't want to eat at a sit down buffet every day. I especially don't want to pay a server 20% gratuity several times a day to just pick up my dishes.
Ricky advised us that there was a plan to eventually put in a "quick oven" (whatever that is) in the area of the meadows. But it would not be a food court. It would serve some fast foods, but he wouldn't say which ones.
I totally agree with Lone-Star, A food court or Counter service area is the only way to go. However, I think that the management at the Fort just doesn't get it and I don't think that you will see a counter service area in the near future.
Also, The new quick service area at the Contemporary Resort has been reopened as an "upscale" food court and they no longer serve Hamburgers or hot dogs anymore, They only serve flatbread sandwiches. So the good Counter service options are dwindling for Fort patrons.

TE breakfast was good, too bad for the change, DD's only eat the cereal and a doughnut. DW loved the fresh fruit and a waffle, DS and I will really miss the hash, guess we are back to breakfast in the fifth wheel.

As far as other meals at TE, one word, BAD
on a scale of 1 to 10
Pizza = 2
Chicken =6
Ribs? really those are ribs???

Disney has so many good choices why are we stuck with this at FW?

Just the Bradfield opinion........

Hmmm.....charge more for the sites..and offer less. :sad2:
We went to the food courts at the moderate resorts when we stayed there. TE didn't appeal to us at all.

Oh bummer! Brunch (right at menu change so to capture both meals) at the TE was our one have-to eat for the week. Looks like we'll try something new.

I do love the Fort as much as anyone, I really do,,but come on folks,,who are they kidding,,the Fort is a CASH COW for Disney,and they are gonna bleed us dry for as long and for as much as they can.

They throw the Fiends a bone,,once in 35 years (a new pool) ,I actually believe they are only doing that to try and keep me from using the pool at the WL and the CS Resort,,, while yes, it will be nice,,big deal. Everything thing else they have done at the Fort has been STRICTLY for Disneys gain,,more concrete, etc. only means more money per site,,but they didn't stop there, it means more money on all the sites.

just my opinion.
