I've heard great things about this buffet and am interested in trying it when we're there in May. My question is if it's easy to get to if you are not staying at the Wilderness Lodge or at the campgrounds?

We don't mind going a little out of our way for something special, but I have no idea about how to navigate the WL to get to this restraunt.

Thanks for any input!

You can get to WL and the campground by boat from MK and I am sure by bus from all parks.

Since Trail's End is at Fort Wilderness, you will not need to factor the Wilderness Lodge into this at all (unless you're staying at WL and want to know the best way to get there).

The best way IMHO is using the Magic Kingdom as your travel hub, and taking the Fort Wilderness boat from there. When you get off the dock, it's pretty much a straight shot to the restaurant.

From the Wilderness Lodge, you can take the boat that makes the loop with Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary, so it's almost the same deal. There's also a trail about a mile long that runs between WL and Fort Wilderness, but it's really a good alternative during the day, as I don't think it's lit at night. I've walked it coming from Fort Wilderness back to the WL during the day. :)

From any of the parks or Downtown Disney, just find the bus stop for Fort Wilderness by looking at the clearly marked signs at the Depots. You'll have to take any of the internal bus routes, as they all stop at the Pioneer Hall area.

First, a bit of clarification. Trails End is not located at Wilderness Lodge. It's at Fort Wilderness campground. People often confuse the two resorts.

These are two completely separate resorts. They are located in the same general vicinity, but the only thing they share is the word "Wilderness" in the name.

Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort, with regular hotel rooms and suites. There are two table service restaurants, Whispering Canyon and Artist Point, and a counter service restaurant called Roaring Forks. The DVC Villas at Wilderness Lodge are attached to WL and offer studios and 1 and 2 bedroom villas.

Fort Wilderness is a campground, with campsites and cabins. It's about a mile away from WL. Trails End is located here, along with Pioneer Hall, site of the Hoop-de-Doo Revue dinner show.

To get to either of these resorts, you can drive, or take a boat from MK, or a bus from any of the other theme parks. There's also a boat that runs between FW and WL. If you drive or bus to FW, you'll need to take an internal bus from the parking lot to Trails End, which is located near the boat dock.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the clarification, I was obviously turned around on that one!

So Trail's End is at Fort Wilderness, check. Sounds like it's pretty easy to get to from MK. I listened to the Dis podcast where they ate there and spoke very highly of it. Sounds like good food at a reasonable price.

Thanks again everyone :)
