I have been invited to a "Blessing Ceremony" in a Budis (spelling) temple- My friend told me it's "not a wedding" just a blessing, and since the couple is having a destination wedding I will probably not be attending the actual wedding- Can I give a gift at "blessing ceremony"? what kind of card can I put it in?? Do I dress the same as I would a wedding? It starts at 10am! How long is the ceremony and please tell me anything else I might need to know about attending!! Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Like a western wedding, there is a wide variety.

But, traditionally these answers would apply.

By all means, you may bring a gift.

Consider skipping a store-bought card and writing your well wishes on a blank card. You offer your own blessing on their lives together.

Modest wedding attire is appropriate. Dressy and covered. It is possible that shoes will not be worn. Wear your panty hose or socks with no holes just in case.

In my experience, a western version of a blessing ceremony is relatively short--under an hour.

Watch for strings. In a western wedding the bride and groom exchange rings. In a Thai Buddist ceremony, people drape each other with strings that convey well wishes or appreciation.

Enjoy!
