I know that many of the people who post on these boards are pros at trades and acquiring the items that you desire. However, being a relative newbie (joined late April), I do not have all of the rare items that people desire and that are needed in trades. I would love it if some of the veterans could give the newbies some tips on how to get to where you were. I have been offering credits for most of my trades because that seems to be the only thing of value I have. How does one get the leverage needed to trade without going to the parks? Please help! TIA! :goodvibes

I'll start, however I'm even newer than you! :rotfl2: One item that is highly sought after even now is the purple/red baseball outfit, especially hat and shoes (ugly as the shoes may be, I guess less people got them). The baseball quest weekend was shortly after we joined so I had two characters myself, but also had to play for my kids to help them, and you can imagine how being new made repeat performances in some of the games a time consuming problem. :badpc: BUT, that is a way for you to get rare items to trade. Have a few mules so that when special one day quests come up you can do them for all your characters and trade the extras. Be sure to keep one for awhile to see whether it trades better sooner or later. I don't know myself.

TWO : If you're a good video-gamer, practice games that others can't do well, like the one that gives the pirate ships (although those won't get you rare anymore) or space suits and offer those in trade rooms or on threads here.

Now someone with REAL experience can step in...

If credits seem to be all you have to offer, then you need to find people building rooms.

Sadly you missed the big rush of the ride event. These ride events make rares available to everybody because people need credits or items to build their rooms and so they trade their rares for bulk buyables.

There's still a little rush for palm bottoms, crates and rocks. So it just takes a bit of searching to find people looking for buyables in bulk.

Another thing to do is go around the quest rooms and game rooms and find out if any rare is prizes. You won't find many, but there are some.

What I've just written is how I first started. Yes, eventually I was able to get to DLR and get my first set of quest stuff. But for almost a month, that's how I built my stuff up...just from buyables.

Also to add to what has already been said..
Every once in a while the Emporium has items under the "Specials" section. For example, during Halloween and Christmas, they released furniture, pins, etc. in those themes. Stock up on a few of those (5,10,etc.), since you are good at getting credits.

You may need to wait a couple months before their true value is determined, but they will become rare and very good traders. If the item happens to be a dud, then just offer it up for trade whenever you see a new item in the Emporium Specials.. and start the waiting cycle again. It does take a bit of time, but it can be done.

I hope that gives you another insight of what you can do. There is no right or wrong way, try a few things and see what works best for you.

Good tips guys :thumbsup2 I have been meaning to make a mule or two, I should probably do it soon before we have another one day quest :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

My best advice is patience. You have to sometimes wait a little while for your stuff to get rare.

Buy as much of the weekend or event specials as you can afford and the forget you have them. They won't be rare for a few months don't make the mistake of trading them too quickly.

The simple act of "trading up" will build your inventory. It can be simple. You have to have a rare item to start. I am going to use a fire window and a rare hat for example and I am NOT saying that these are the values of these things I am giving you an example.

So you have a hat and you trade it for a firewall. You then trade the firewall with someone else for the hat you originally gave plus one other smaller rare item. Then you try to do it again, you trade the same hat for another fire wall or something else and repeat the process. So you are making a "profit" on each trade. It is important to do this with items that you can get and trade over and over. Don't try it with a sparrow or stitch hat or anything that might be difficult to get back.

It can be a little scary at first to trade one rare item that you might like a lot.

I learned how to do that from someone on the boards here when VMK first started she listed all the trades she did in a day and here I was and I couldn't get anyone to trade with me. So I took the one cool thing I had, my costume, took it off and traded it away and then got it back a few trades later.

Also I can't stress this enough, in order to get people to trade with you, read their signatues some people post in there what they want or how they want to trade. If someone wants you to ask first, make sure you do or they will only reject your trade before you even get to show them you rare hat :)

here aare some more tips make game rooms like spin to win or falling chairs
and maake tthe people pay to play thats what i do and i got blue aladin chairs and a firewall i give out magic as prizes and thats how i get my rare stuff

hope this helped
