Trading Points

Has anyone ever traded points before.

Example: I want to stay in a GV at VB but I know that there is no way to get it at the seven month window. I do own at VWL though. Could you try to find someone with VB points to book it for you and then you give them your VWL points? Just an idea!

We own at BWV and were able to "hook up" with someone that owned at VB by posting on these baords. Trading points won't work because you can only trade in or out once a year - strange rule - don't really understand why they call it a trade if it can only be one-sided.

But we made reservations for them and they made reservations for us. We stayed in a Beach Cottage over Labor Day last year and had a wonderful time. They went in November and really enjoyed themselves. They live in California and we are in NY. We stayed in touch through email and we spoke just a few times over the telephone. We have stayed in touch via email since then. Hopefully, we will meet up in person some day.

I believe the term DVC uses is "transfer" and not "trade".

And as an added bonus to trading with someone, you get to make a new DIS friend!

We found each other and organized our trade on the Rent/Trade board and it worked out so well for all of us! I would give it a try and see if you can find someone who would like to trade reservations with you. As Lauri mentioned - transferring is kinda difficult to pull off as you are only allowed one transfer in OR out per use year. So unless you wanted to travel in different use years you would need to trade reservations not points.
