Trading an RCI week to stay at DVC

I actually just ended up trading a RCI week for a DVC week. Had 3 weeks I had to trade with, and all 3 were pulling up weeks at DVC. (All 3 were mid summer weeks at a ski resort in ME for 3 consecutive years, so not sure how much trade power those have) Doing a non-specific search, I.E. by location wouldn't turn anything up, it was only if I searched specifically by resort id, IE DV01 etc would it find anything. Also, when I tried to confirm the room, it was no longer listed on the online inventory, but when I called up, they still showed it as available. So the RCI phone reps may be able to find you something not coming up on the website. Just sharing my recent experience.

Actually I think the only person with any luck with foxrun and RCI is the person I'm reffering too above.
And this lends credence to RCI's story that she just plain got lucky, and was assigned a higher trade power than she was "supposed to get."

So, I called my resort and paid my MF 13 months out to hopefully be able to see DVC. Didn't work. :sad1: I guess I'll have to stick to my S-F DVC trips on my own points.

Well I deposited online the other day just to see what it would do for other RCI stuff. I decided to check DVC and it pulled it, have no idea why but at least I got one year to be able to trade into it:confused3

How far out was your deposit from check-in?

I see about 60 or so available weeks any given day.
That's interesting as I normally see somewhere in the 120-160 range at any given time, currently 121 for all WDW resorts in RCI weeks and a number more in RCI points.

Deposited last week, it is a week 26 2010. So about 15 months. I'm not counting on this every year but looks like I get one year.

I'm seeing 121 weeks this morning.

You're seeing everything I am right now and given what I'm seeing (resort, size, time), I suspect that's all that's there. There are another dozen or so in the RCI points side, less than usual of late but some great options such as 2 BR units at AKV & BCV. There may actually be more units as duplicates would not show up in most situations.

I was checking on the RCI web site just to surf around and i am seeing availability for jan and feb 2010. My question is, are DVC considered Weeks or Points Resorts? Because with weeks you can make reservations up to 2011.

They have DVC in both weeks and points on RCI right now

But, you can't exchange into anything until it is deposited. And, Disney never deposits more than 11 months in advance---just like a home resort reservation can't be made farther than 11 months in adavnce. I've seen a few 11 months-to-the-day deposits, but mostly they are a bit closer in. Right now, the latest I've seen was a 2/26/2010 check in.

True in general but there have been a few units in RCI ahead of hte 11 month window, some as much as 13 months out, none right now that far out though. My guess is those were undeclared units. Since they were not simply SSR and AKV, it made me wonder if at least part of DVC's unsold points were actually undeclared units that were never sold and thus the reservation rules would not apply to those units.

Much, if not most, of the weeks inventory likely comes from the points side rather than direct weeks deposit. I think the units after 2/7 just came over today.
