Got up at 6am to catch the 7am bus to AK for a 8am ADR at
Donalds breakfastasaurus. (the first ADR of many
)
The plan was to be half way into the park for opening at 9am to get on Expedition Everest before the crowds!
Got dad a birthday button from guest services, which after much badgering he begrudgingly wore!
magical memory number 1:
Every cast member we met on our way to breakfast wished him happy birthday, we were seated for breakfast & our AWESOME server called NEIL, who has been working their for 16 YEARS, made lots of jokes with dad & a few tricks too - dropping a try of coffee cups on him, which turned out to be empty, He also offered to take 2 chinese girls pic for them & promtly turned around & took our pic with their camera!! & squirting dad with a joke ketchup bottle etc
Dad moaned about paying out for a character breakfast, when he said he didnt eat much & didnt want to meet the characters!
4 PLATES LATER, Mickey came by & dad had his pic took & Neil got him to crack a smile, after Pluto & Donald, he was smiling on his own & was no longer needing to be dragged up for a pic
THANKYOU SOOO MUCH NEIL
Finished breakfast about 8.50am & waited to be allowed into the park, at 8.55am they let us through & 2 cast members carrying a rope across the path walked toward EE with us following.
As we got near the lake, we looked across to the other side & saw HUNDREDS of people doing the same thing!! We got to EE at the same time but we were closer, got straight on the ride
Magical memory number 2:
Mum was a bit nervous as she had told me she didnt like roller coasters, i told her she would be ok on this as i knew it didnt go upside down.............
big mistake, i didnt realise how nervous mum was!
When we reached the top where the track runs out, mum looked decidedly pale, she knew there was only one way to go....backwards, fast, in the dark!
I thought it was fantastic & when the ride stopped Gary, Leanne & i were clapping & whooping, i turned around to see mum still sat in the train, still gripping the hand rails, eyes shut & shaking!!
We told her she had to get off, but mum said she couldnt move, dad said if you dont get out you will have to go again....she got out!
She was shaking so much she could hardly walk, dad & i had to hold each arm, now i was concerned, but i couldnt stop laughing (sorry mum).
magical memory number 3:
We went to Serengeti safari, everytime i have done this i have said 'mum would love this' this time i said it on video & then turned the camera & said 'wouldnt you mum'
Went on the river rapids, Gary told mum not to sit next to him as he always got wet, mum ended up next to him & they both got soaked to the bone,
The weather was boiling hot 90's again, but we managed to stay all day, & laughed more times than i can remember!
We caught the bus to AKL for ADR number 2 at Boma (yum)
Got there with lots of time to spare, so i could show mum & dad this beautiful hotel, meal at Boma lovely as ever, but for me our server spoilt it!
The only negative experience with a cast member i have ever had!
The young lady was just about polite, but i had told them when we checked in that it was dads birthday & he was wearing his badge, but not once did she wish him happy birthday, my daughters tooth fell out & i was laughing saying the best place to loose a tooth is wdw & maybe tink would come, i laughingly said this to the server, who bearly cracked a smile & didnt bother to reply or even look at my daughter.
It was shame this happened at the end of a wonderful day, but Allana at CP in the MK next day soon made up for it...........
