Today was a rest day – which meant swimming and shopping !! We spent the morning lazing around by the pool – the temperature had climbed steadily from 82 to 85 degrees so far this trip and was forecast to stay in the mid eighties for the foreseeable future – and not a drop of rain so far.

Shopping was Downtown Disney today – we’d window shopped on the previous visit but this time we were serious ;) Stocked up on presents at the World of Disney – Rachelle spent some of her money on a build-you-own crown (yet another scheme to take as much money off you as possible!) but she spent ages choosing jewels and princess beads that could snap on and off so she was happy ! Bought some Christmas decorations and a Santa hat aerial topper from the Christmas shop too !

We had dinner booked in Seaworld – Dine With Shamu – at 5:15pm for the 4 of us. I’d heard mixed reviews about this but decided to try it for myself and I was glad I did. There were a few negatives – there are two rows of tables (each table seats 4) and we were in the second row so the girls didn’t have a particularly good view, it was over too quickly and the wine was awful !! Fortunately the positives far outweighed these :D We were given ‘VIP passes’ at Guest Services that allowed us entry into the Dine With Shamu area and made us feel very important lol! After being shown to our table we were reminded that alcoholic drinks were included – that meant bottles of bud (after I had tried the wine) and Steve volunteered to drive back – then shown where the buffet area was. The food was quite good, a reasonable selection – salads, crudités & dips, chicken, beef, a rice dish, veggies and lots of side dishes. There was lots of selection for the kids too and a good variety of desserts...as you can see.....

After most people were settled with their food the trainers began their speil. We were lucky – we had 3 whales that day – two adults and a baby (there was great celebration amongst the trainers as we started as ‘baby’ decided he was going to perform his first ever ‘bow’ without being asked. Apparently that’s a big step in the training process). The 3 were spaced out along the edge of the pool so everyone had a good close-up look. All too soon it was over and people started leaving, the whales were just swimming round doing their own thing so the girls went to the table nearest the pool to take a closer look. I saw the trainer make a signal and the next thing we knew, a killer whale popped up right by the girls to say ‘hello’. They were so excited – it was one of those moments that make a holiday :D

Eventually we had to say goodbye and went next door to watch the night time Shamu show – I’d forgotten how different the evening show was. It was half empty – never seen that before. We sat in the splash zone so that Rachelle could get wet down the front and we managed to stay dry.::yes::
