Can you believe it is 2:30am and I can't sleep! I've actually been laying in bed for the past hour thinking about the question of surprise in Disney or at home.
I think I have come to the conclusion that I will stick to my original plans for now. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay with that decision - but for now I think I'll be upset at myself if I ruin the surprise.

OK - maybe now I can get some sleep!

Please still give me your opinion.

I would have SUCH a hard time keeping everything a secret! I wouldn't even have made it this long!

That's the thing... I'm afraid he'll be upset if he DOES know. Well not upset but he'll want to cancel it cause were trying to pay down debt. And I DO NOT want to cancel (fortuantly he's not the kind of DH that would MAKE me cancel... he is the kind that says... "Well if you can make it work."). HUMMMM.... I really want to tell him BUT if I surprise him at Disney then there is no going back.
BUT I was thinking or surprising him after I got the cruise documents... but that's not until January!!! UGG What did I get myself into!!

Well, he knows you bought into DVC so he has to be ok with you spending that money. The special part is the cruise so maybe you can keep that part a secret and tell him about the WLV part? You can tell him it's practice for when you officially use your own DVC!

I would think telling him may be better because he can help you pack and get everything ready. (if he's like my DH he probably won't be that big of a help with that part but at least he'll know to watch the kids while YOU pack!) With 2 little ones I'm sure you can use all the hlep you can get!

Maybe tell him for Christmas? Or give it to him as a Christmas (or holiday not sure you celebrate Christmas ) present that way he has no choice about the $$!!! But man you are so good at keeping this secrect. I would've told already!

We don't celebrate any of those winter holidays so I couldn't use that as a money excuses. (religious reasons)
I was thinking of surprising him once we get the documents in January. Wrapping them up and telling him I bought him a present (just because), and then still surprise him with the WL.
Or maybe even telling him I got information on the cruise and wait for him to open it and see our names on the documents.
I think the WL will be an easier surprise since I don't have to pack anything special.

I'm going to try. The only problem is I am afraid my brother is going to find out and accidental leak it. Plus you don't know how many times I have almost said something that would have given it away!!

Sometimes I feel like this is a dream and I'm not even going.

Congrats on DVC! I'd love to join but it's too pricey for me as a college student. Maybe when I work for Disney.....

The DVC always seemed WAY out of our price range too. BUT I think we got a good deal to get started.
Enjoy your time in college! You should try the Disney college program!!! I know that I wish I had!!

This weekend we went to a special event at Disney's Doorway to Dreams. It's the only DVC store in a mall.
Anywho Skylar got to meet Mickey!!!

and Dexter said hi to some old Friends

Not much new vacation planning has been going on... except after this weekend Shawn said he really wants to go on a cruise but knows we can't right now
He actually said that we should stay a few nights at at DVC resort and then go one a three night cruise!!!
He's going to pee his pants when he finds out!!!

So we had a BUNCH of bad storms roll in a few days ago. It's funny how different you react to bad weather when you have children. We were in the basement right when then announced a tornado warning. Normally we wait until the sirens go off... and then stick around outside for awhile 'storm watching'.
I started taking Charlie (our doggie) for a walk every night. Just Skylar, Charlie, and me. We are normally gone for close to an hour. Well that night I looked outside and figured I better leave a bit early since it may rain. About 15 minutes into our walk there started to be big drops of rain. Not enough to get us wet, but enough to know it was on its way.
So at that point we turned around to head home early. I remember the thunder to the west sounded really bad!!! I figured a really bad storm was coming -or- there was a dragon in town. Since I didn't want to be near either of those things with Skylar I picked up the pace. When I got within a half block from our house I heard the kids across the street screaming 'TORNADO WARNING'!!! So I rushed inside to see Shawn about to call me all worried.
Everything ended up being fine. Just really strong wind and wicked thunder & lightning. I wish I was upstairs to watch - but we were playing it safe with the kids.

OK - Back to Disney.
So now I feel I really need to save up another $600-$800 so that we can rebook on the cruise a date for 2010. I heard you get 10% off your next cruise and at really good on board stateroom credit.
And Shawn keeps on talking about cruises now!!! He's too funny... Here's our conversation.

ME -I bet when the new ships come out that Disney Creates a two night cruise to go only to Castaway Cay.
SHAWN - Only two nights that would stink... but I guess it would be a good weekend surprise.
ME - Ahhh... you would surprise me with a weekend cruise??
SHAWN - No... how could I??
ME - Oh!?! So you want me to surprise you with a cruise.... I see how it is!!! (at this point I acted mad )

Then he explained that it would be to hard for him to do it since I handle all of the money... so how could he hide a big chuck like that coming out of our checking account. I understand his point ... I GUESS... But I just thought it was funny!!!

PLUS - My mom joined the DVC and may come in January with my Dad, Brother, his wife & their daughter. And my mom is going to use some of her points so that they can all stay at the same hotel... Well this really made Shawn mad... cause he doesn't understand why she can't sell us the points. "Why does ur brother get them." I'm just going along with it acting frustrated.... This is too much fun!!

I really hope he doesn't find anything out until I tell him in Disney!!!

So I just found out that we would have been able to go in Sept. The airfare for Southwest for our dates is now only $89 each way compared to $149!!!!
So if you have tickets booked - go to their website and check it out!! You may be entitled to a credit!!

Although I am happier with our current vacation now.

My friend (who is borrowing us the points) rented a 3br villa for a few days in Sept. It is sooooo tempting to leave Dexter with my parents, let Shawn work (evil I know) and take Skylar to Disney World!!!! I'm sure it won't happen... but it is very tempting!!! I'm sure I will be talking to Shawn about it tonight!!

I was also able to book our last night stay. When we get off the Ship we will be heading back to Disney World instead of getting on a plane!!! I am VERY excited about that!!! It was a pain the last time we went on a cruise to get off the boat and go home. You almost need a day to relax. We will be staying at.... Are You Ready??!!... at the Boardwalk!!

I called DCL to make sure they had our castaway cay club number... and it's good I did. I found out that they send out a mailing 90 days prior to travel That would have been hard to explain!!!
