Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Hi Tracy, sorry they are closing some of the things you wanted to do at WDW. On the bright side though - it gives you an excuse to go back ;)
Glad the computers fixed!
Have a great week!

Hey Tracey--sorry I haven't checked in for awhile, things have been really crazy!

Glad to hear the trip to Illinois was good, and that the long drive didn't seem so bad.

That really stinks that the things you want to do at WDW will be closed while you are there. I hate when that happens.

I hope you have a great week!!

P.S. I chose the title for my journal based on the fact that I see my weight loss/healthy living as a journey where baby steps are key and where victories (no matter how small!) should be celebrated. Yes, there will be bumps in this journey, but if I take it step by step and day by day, I can make my goals! :bounce:

Have a great day! :sunny:

I really needed to read that right now! Thank you!

Sorry to hear about the closures during your trip but I bet you'll have a great time anyway...we are dissapointed about Tusker house too...surprise to read they are closing it to turn it into a TS...it is our favorite CS. Oh well.

Have a great week!

So sad about the closings during your trip. Spaceship earth is a favorite.

I've never eaten at Tusker House, but it did look good. I could NEVER skip AK though, I love EE, the safari and the new Nemo show too much! Have you seen the Nemo show, it's awesome.

Hopefully you had a good, and successful day :cheer2:

Hi Tracy, I am bummed about Spaceship Earth too. It will be open our last day but thats it and if they run behind it won't be open then either. Are you sure you want to skip AK? The Finding Nemo show is so cute. And Flame Tree BBQ is wonderful as is Pizzafari for counter service. I am bummed about Tusker House too though. I just love AK, there is so much to do there!

I am with you on eating less when I journal, I have GOT to start that up again. You are doing well, you have been so busy, that says a lot.

So glad your trip went well and that you got to meet your brother's girlfriend! Welcome Home!

Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

This is me: :sick: What I thought were allergy issues have turned into a full blown cold/flu. It snuck right up on me too. I was feeling okay yesterday morning and by yesterday evening, I was down for the count. :( I have nothing scheduled for today other than some invoicing for my DH and a trip to Pittsburgh for a de-install..... Sounds like a lot, but we should be home early this afternoon.

Nothing else on the schedule today except for a Disney meeting. That should be fun!:woohoo:

Have a great day everyone!:grouphug:

Still feeling like this::sick:

I've got a couple of things to do tomorrow, including shopping and stopping by a used homeschool curriculum sale, but that's it. This weekend, my DH will be busy deejaying and going to his buddy's bachelor party so the girls and I will stay home and chill out.

Hoping this flu goes away soon.... I may lose a few pounds from it though! ;)

Have a good evening.:goodvibes

Good afternoon friends,

I am starting to feel a bit better. I finally broke down and went to Walgreens for some medicine. :goodvibes

We did great at the garage sales and the used curriculum sale yesterday! We got 3 pairs of shorts for my DH, 2 shirts for my DDs, 1 sweatshirt, 2 pairs of pants for my DDs, 1 pair of shorts, a Mickey graduation cap, 2 sets of ebow/knee pads for skateboarding (1 was new), and a bike for Caley for $21! We got a ton of great homeschooling materials for $27 and we walked away with a medium size box of books for FREE! I guess it was worth standing in line for 45 minutes to get all of that great stuff!

This weekend looks to be relaxing for us and busy for my DH...

Saturday: Soccer registration, package pick up at the post office, birthday party for my cousins, DH is deejaying, WDW Poster Making with the kids

Sunday: Relax, DH has his friend's bachelor party in the evening. (It's the guy he deejays with. That's why the bachelor party is on Sunday because they're deejaying a wedding on Saturday.)

On Monday, we're going to start spring cleaning and organizing for this year's garage sale. We're starting with the girls' room first because for some odd reason, it is the messiest. :rolleyes:

I hope everyone has a great weekend!:grouphug:

I don't know if you're like me, (but it kind of sounds like it) but my DH doesn't undertand why I'm so reluctant to take medicine when I'm sick, esp. since I always feel better. For example, I got a crazy headache yesterday and I waited like 5 hours before taking some exerderin. Of course, once I took it, I felt so much better. But why did I wait five hours? I'm so weird.

I'm glad you're feeling better though :) And it's great you get a bit of a break this weekend, I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Bekki! :hug:

I spoke too soon about feeling better because I am feeling absolutely, 100% horrible, terrible, no good, very bad sick.:sick: I thought I was over the worst of it, but I was wrong. We have a birthday party to go to this afternoon and I really don't want to go, but my girls have been looking forward to it all week so we'll go, but maybe not stay long. It is a 45 minute drive though.... :(

I forgot to mention.... We won a set of Disneyland Dreams Mouse Ears from the Year of a Million Dreams Contest. I was hoping for the pins and lanyard, but at least we won something! (DVC or a free vacation would have been nice too! :lmao: )

I'm going to try and recover from this "bug" the rest of the weekend, so I probably won't get to journals until Monday. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!:grouphug:

I hope you are feeling better! :wizard:

That's cool that you won the prize from the Year of a Million Dreams contest!

WTG on the awesome finds at the garage sales and curriculum sale!

I hope you are feeling better soon!!

Hi Tracy,

:wizard: Hope you feel better soon. It's no fun being sick. :sick: The added weight loss is a perk though. :rotfl:

Thank you so much for your support in my journal. :hug:

Thanks Laurie and Jennifer.:hug:

Good morning friends,

I've come to realize that a couple of things happen when I am sick:

1. I realize that I have been pushing myself way too hard and am not getting enough rest or proper nourishment.

2. I become much more reflective about my weight loss journey.

I was thinking about the fact that just a few months ago, I was complaining about the scale being stuck at 204. Now that the scale is at 218, I look back and should have appreciated maintaining that weight more.:rolleyes1

In any event, I have come to realize that I need to spend some more time filling up my "me" bank. Last year was a very difficult year and I lost myself somewhere. I've been trying to fill the void with food. Bottom line. The problem is that once I am full with food, the void is still there. I need to spend some time just for me to fill myself with the good so I can pour that out on to my family and frends. I need to take time for myself to dream again.... to pray and spend time with God and God's word....to learn to have fun again and to enjoy life..... most of all, to learn to be me again. (Does this make sense? :confused3 )

I feel like this weight loss journey is about so much more than just exercise and eating right. It's about finding out who we really are and what makes us tick. It's about finding out about the good in us and what areas of our lives could use some work. It's about finding a group of friends who are there to support, encourage, love you and help you get back on the healthy living wagon when we have fallen off. (Or jumped off as the case may be! :lmao: )

This week's goals:

1. Exercise Daily (doesn't have to be strenuous, could just be a 10 minute walk around the block)

2. Food/Emotions Journal

3. Take some time out to do something to re-charge my batteries every day. Could be an energizing walk, a leisurely stroll, a date with my DH, a walk to the park with the girls, reading a good book, or just sitting down to dream....

I'm shooting for 7/7= 100% on these goals this week.

Today's Plan:

* Laundry

* Homeschooling

* Shrek the Third

* BIL's birthday party

* Workout

That's about all from here. Hope everyone has a great Monday!:cool1:

Hi Tracy,

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Spring and Summer colds/flu are no fun. I hate being sick during this time of the year. However I too am like you, I would rather not take anything when I am sick. Not sure why, I just don't. I usually do though!

Your shopping day sounds great! That is awesome that you were able to get all that great stuff!

Keep up the good work!

Have a great day :)

Sorry I've been MIA, Tracy! And even more sorry you've been so sick! Spring & summer colds just seem to linger & linger & linger!

I totally agree with you that you lose yourself - I could have written your post. And, as a mom, it's REALLY hard to 'find' yourself again! Realizing it is half the battle, though! Hang in there, & keep on keepin' on! We're right here with you!

You did GREAT at the sales! HS Curriculum is SO EXPENSIVE!!!

Hope the week gets better for you. Try to get out & enjoy some sun - maybe it will help!

Have a wonderful week! I'm here praying for you!

Tracy, sometimes a bout of sickness can be a wake up call for all of us! Its good to take time to reflect a bit, you are continuing to solve your own mystery so to speak, good for you! I know you can do this and its great you are not giving up. I am right there with you, two steps forward, one step back and it just goes on and on! But we are making progress. Take care of yourself Wish Sis, this is our year and we won't forget it!:hug:

Good morning friends,

I am still not feeing well. :( I'm going to take my normal doses of medicine today and if I am not feeling somewhat better tomorrow, I'm going to make an appointment to see the doctor.

Today's Plan:

* Workout

* Laundry

* Homeschool

* Disney Meeting

* Clean the girls' room

As for my goals for the week:

1. Exercise Daily 1/7

2. Food/Emotions Journal 1/7

3. Tracy's Battery Charging 1/7

I porbably won't be able to get to journals today....Hope everyone has a wonderful day!:grouphug:

*********************************************************
Jamie~ I love getting deals on clothes and such at garage sales. It's fun saving money! (Except at WDW. :lmao: )

Julie~ Homeschool curriculum is expensive! I am so grateful that my friend e-mailed me about this sale. It helped us save a lot of money. Thanks for your prayers!:hug:

Amy~ This is our year! We can do this!:cheer2: Thank you so much for all of your encouragement and support.:hug:

I hope you feel better soon. It's so lame when illness just sort of sticks around.

Good for you for working through it, and staying with your goals. That's not easy to do when you feel so bad :) Have a great day!

Hope today finds you a bit better! Hang in there! And take some well-deserved Tracy time!!

I love what you had to say about your weight loss journey. It was right on. If we go around empty because we provide for everyone elses needs and neglect our own needs we end up sick in some way...physically or mentally. Its a lesson we all have to learn. For me its when I don't give myself time to be creative. Thats what fills me up. I get edgy and resentful if I'm not allowed my creative time. It can be as simple as getting out gardening or as complex as designing a quilt. But it has to happen on a daily basis. I've gotten quite selfish about my time. I don't give it away as easily as I once did or at least I'm pickier about where my spare time goes.
You are on the right track with this. Follow what feels right to you!
