Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Good morning WISH friends,

Yesterday was a good day, but I was in pain all day long. :( My right side hurts quite a bit. I don't think anything is broken. I think I pulled a few muscles in my neck, back, and shoulders and I am bruised a bit. Hopefully, the pain will go away soon.

Today's Plan:

* Homeschool

* eBay

* Rewards Programs

* Start straightening bedrooms

* Soak in a hot tub and hope that it helps with the pain

* Do a Disney quote or two

I also want to subscribe to Tour Guide Mike (TGM), but I don't think he is allowing subscritions to be purchased yet after his website was down a few days. His service is wonderful, especially for what days to go to what parks!:thumbsup2

Finally, I had another disconcerting moment on this weight loss journey last night. When we got home from Columbus, we decided to watch our movies from WDW from 2004 and 2005. I started my weight loss journey in 2004. There wasn't much of a difference in how I looked on video between those two years at all. :( It is still so hard to watch myself on those videos and to have to acknowledge that I haven't made much progress. :(

I realize that baby steps are not easy for me. I have a tendency to be an "all or nothing" type of girl. I know in my head that baby steps are the key to long term changes in my life, but my all or nothing mentality often discourages me before I even get started. How to get through this....:confused3 It is something to think about and something I need to work on........

Hope everyone has a great day today!:goodvibes

Hi Tracy
I hope the bruising goes soon :grouphug:
Keep taking those baby steps we are all here for you.
We have been doing the story of the hare & the tortoise at school & his motto is:
slow & steady wins the race ;)

HI Tracy--Sending some pixiedust: that you are feeling better soon. Hopefully the aches and pains will be gone really soon!

I know it is hard having an all or nothing feeling, I am the same way, if I don't see results immediately it is very hard sometimes. As hard as it is, you have the right idea that small steps are the key.

Hang in there!

I hope you're starting to feel a bit better, Tracy! Falls are NO fun! Glad your DD wasn't hurt and you weren't hurt worse!

I totally understand your feelings about seeing no progress. Over Christmas I was transferring home movies from VHS to DVD & was seeing how little change in me there is in most of them. These Baby Steps can be frustrating! But I truly believe that going the slow & easy route is best! DD asked me just this morning why I don't do something that will take the weight off 'instantly' and then all I have to do is keep it off. I really think that this way we are more likely to succeed in the long run.

Hang in there!

Hi Tracy!

I could have written part of your last post. I have a set of pictures of me from this time last year and in one I have on this cute cream turtleneck in a size small. I can't even get my head in that sweater now. It's sad to either undo all your hard work or look back and see you haven't made the progress you thought you did.

Baby steps are surely they key for us. I'm a perfectionist too (didn't even realize it until I read Boby Clutter by the flylady). I'm trying to get over it. I don't have to be perfect but I do have to make progress. We have to learn to stop beating ourselves up. We need to be our own best friend - the way we would be to a girlfriend in our situation. We can do this! Each and everyday we can make strides toward being the healthiest and fittest possible. That's my goal. I'm not going for skinny anymore just healthy and comfortable in my skin (and getting back into my size 10 jeans!) :)

Have a good day sweetie and I hope the pain from the fall goes away soon.

Tracy, the changes you have made are huge, but many of them cannot be seen on a video as they are happening within. The outer changes will come in time. Just keep taking those baby steps and you will continue with this journey just fine! I know its hard, I personally HATE looking at videos of myself. Just hang in there and keep up your hard work, it is making a difference!

I hope the pain goes away soon, take some hot showers and baths and take care of yourself! And I also love TGM, I use him every trip, its money well spent in my book!

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement.:hug:

The past couple of days have been hard for me because I have been doing a lot of thinking and beating myself up over my weight. (At least I'm getting exercise in by beating myself up, right? ;) :rotfl: ) To be around the same weight for the past few years with very little progress is difficult. I am really trying to adopt the baby step thing... Hopefully, I will have a plan with some mini-goals in a few days.

Today's Plan:

* Homeschool

* Workout ( nice and easy; still in pain :( )

* Thinking/ Goal Planning

I would like to ask for your prayers and :wizard: for my DH. He has a big meeting @ 2:00 p.m. that could mean a huge blessing and some opportunities for several people... He is a bit nervous, but with God's help, he can do this!:thumbsup2

Have a great day!:cool1:

I'll be praying for DH while DS20 is at the dentist! Gives me something VERY worthwhile to do!

I can't tell you how many times I have cried about my weight over the years. I remember hitting 155 & thinking it was the end of the world - now I'd give almost anything to see that number! I, too, tend to maintain, so I know your pain. Just hang in there. Together, with a good bit of help from our friends & the Man upstairs, we WILL make it!

Thank you so much, Julie!:hug:

I've given the baby steps thing a lot of thought... It's all about taking bad habits and changing them into good ones. So, my mini goals for the next week are as follows:

1. Eat breakfast... I'm not focusing on the content of the meal yet. Just eating something to get the metabolism going. Going all the way back to high school, I can remember breakfast not being a priority on my list.

2. No eating after 9:00 p.m.... I usually go to bed around 11:00 p.m. and Bob Greene recommends no eating two hours before bed.

3. Exercise daily.... This doesn't mean a sweat drenched, butt kicking workout every day. ;) This means that for the next 7 days, I am going to try to do some type of exercise even if it's only for 15 minutes.

Since there is no time like the present, here's how today is shaping up:

1. Breakfast: Breakfast Burritos (2), 1 hashbrown, 1 apple pie, 1/2 biscuit from McDonalds (I didn't drink an ounce of pop!:thumbsup2 )

2. No eating after 9:00 p.m..... (It's not 9:00 p.m. yet. ;) )

3. Exercise: I did Body Sculpt Blaster (FIRM) for 30 minutes. I had another workout picked out too, but my body was saying no.

I think this is a good start. Instead of trying to make thousands of changes at once, I figure a few can't hurt.:goodvibes

Have a great rest of the day!:cool1:

Tracy-sounds like you have a great plan. I like your goals that you have set for the week....i should listen and follow those also, especially the eating ones!

I hope DH's meeting went well.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Tracy, breakfast is very important, listen to good old Bob Green on that one! So you did that today. And I think it was wise to listen to your body and not overdo on the workout thing. Especially given your pain from your recent fall. You can do this! I hope you didn't eat past 9:00! Thats a toughie but it can be done. I know you can and will do this, just hang in there! This is our year Wish Sis don't you forget it!

And I will definitely keep your dh in my prayers. I hope his meeting went well.

:grouphug:

Thanks Laurie and Amy!:grouphug:

My DH's meeting went well yesterday. :goodvibes We won't know the results of it for a couple of weeks, but he was happy about it and that's good enough for me.:goodvibes

As for my mini-goals:

1. Breakfast: Yes!:woohoo:

2. No eating after 9:00 p.m. : Yes!:woohoo:

3. Exercise: Yes!:woohoo:

Same goals for today.....

Today's Plan:

* Homeshcool

* Exercise (probably will take it easy... I shoveled some snow last night and my body is kind of sore.)

* Rewards Programs

* Grocery Store

That's about all for today..... I hope everyone has a great weekend! Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend.:goodvibes

Today was a good day. I managed to stick to my mini goals for a second day. It's not been easy though.... I have been thinking those "all or nothing" thoughts and wondering if these mini goals are doing me any good.... However, I am going to do my best to meet these mini-goals this week.

This weekend looks to be a relaxing one... We will haev to start working on taxes at some point, but that's about all we have planned.

Have a great weekend!:cool1:

Hi Tracy
I like your idea of meeting mini goals :)
Well done for sticking to them :)
Have a great weekend

Thanks Tracey!:hug:

Today looks to be a relaxing day.... My DH will be fixing a couple of things on our van, I hope to be walking outside in a few minutes, we'll visit some thrift stores for eBay stuff, and get started on our taxes today. We'll also spend some extra time going over money for my DD6 and she'll learn about George Washington today as well.

Tomorrow may find us at the Cleveland Zoo after church. It depends on how warm it is. ;)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!:cool1:

I'm back...

I just got back from my walk. :woohoo: The rain held off so I could get my almost 2 mile walk in. It felt great to be outside and walking again.:goodvibes

I'm off to eat my breakfast and surf the DIS for awhile...

Great job getting that walk in! I'm glad the weather cooperated too!!

Enjoy the rest of your relaxing weekend!

Hope your weekend goes very well for you.
Too bad you didn't live close to me. I'm emptying out my basement to make room for my DD return home and I think I have ebay'ers goods sitting on my porch waiting for the next garbage day. All stuff I've collected over the years that I no longer have use for. I'm being very stern with myself and just clearing out. If I haven't used it in 5 years its going out! I'm kind of hoping people will pick it up before the garbage comes as I'de rather recycle. And the furniture I'll send to the goodwill.
Its actually a really freeing feeling clearing out. I'm taking back my space!

Tracy-
I LOVE the idea of mini goals--ive been doing that alot lately (although its been with student teaching!)
It really does help..hang in there :)

Hey Tracy--I agree that mini-goals are a great idea. WTG for getting outside for your walk. The weather here has been nice this weekend and should be a nice week ahead, so I am hoping to get as many outside runs as possible!

Keep up the good work!
