We are staying in old key West and returned to our room yesterday to find two of my daughters soft toys missing. They were ones they had brought with them, not Disney ones, and my both my girls are distraught and unable to sleep ( they have lost one each).
I spoke to reception, who aren't really interested, but said they would speak with housekeeping. We got a voicemail from housekeeping today who say they haven't seen the toys.
What can I do???? The toys were definitely here as the girls sleep with them and we haven't taken them out of the room.
Anyone any suggestions?

We had a phone solen by housekeeping from our room and like you experience wdw was worthless.. Even after we busted the maid who had the phone at her house they could careless..I'm sure she probably still works there.. We were lucky enough to have the findmyiphone app and the support of the awesome local authorities..

With toys.. My guess is if they were stolen you will never see them again. Sorry :(

If they sleep with them where they on the bed?

If so I am guessing they got caught up in the bed sheets and have gone to the laundry. If you log it with lost and found they should make therir way back to you if that is the case.

Also did you call the front desk or visit? If you called try actually going over there as the staff I have always found to be helpful but try of a morning as this is when the most senior staff work.

Yeah probably not stolen

wE had a similar experience a few backs with our DD, we did think that one of her soft toys had been taken, but we then remembered that she slept with it and must of left it her bed, they then changed the bed sheets that morning.

To be fair Disney housekeeping and CM's did everything to try and find it as she was heart broken, they even kept in touch via email after we had got home. It never came back home but Disney did send DD a soft toy in the post to cheer her up !

They were on the bed, and I can easily believe that one of them got caught up in the laundry as it's about the size of a fist. The other one is over 10 inches and quite bulky so I struggle to believe that one did especially as all the other toys were all in a heap on the floor when we returned.
My youngest daughter now doesn't want to leave the room in case she loses anything else.

Have you been up to the front desk? Calling them is no use as it goes to a call center - go and see them they will be the best ones to help you :goodvibes

I have to say, I doubt they've been stolen. A phone, an iPad, money- yes, these things unfortunately go "missing" from time to time. As others have said, I suspect the toys got caught up in the bedding and are probably lurking somewhere in the laundry system. Go to the front desk in person and they should be able to rectify the situation.

I would also think they went with the laundry

If all other toys were in a heap on the floor, I doubt somebody would steal 2 "very special" toys among many others

The fact you say that other toys were piled up on the floor makes me think that the housekeeper was in a hurry. Usually they would put toys back on the bed. We had our duffys sit and watch TV, or arranged in many different ways on the bed.
so if the toys were on the floor, it's highly possible that your room was done in a hurry, and then, there's a huge possibility that even a rather large toy was caught up in the sheets.

In my experience, front desk CMs always go out of their ways, especially if a child "lost" something.
If front desk CMs do not seem to care, ask to see a manager or supervisor.

Go to the front desk and ask to speak to someone in laundry. You may well be lucky. We were.

The day we got married, I took my solitaire diamond necklace off to replace it with mum's pearls. Because there were loads of people in my room getting hair/makeup done, I couldn't get to my bedside table so slipped the necklace into the pocket of my Disney dressing gown. As you might imagine, I had a fair few things to distract me after that. The next day, DH and I checked out of the GF and into BLT. I looked around the room before we left, was sure it was empty so assumed that I'd packed my necklace. That afternoon, I suddenly remembered where it was. We raced back to the GF, spoke directly with the front desk who rang laundry straight away. There was an anxious 3 hour wait after that but Voila! It turned up. Housekeeping check all pockets before robes go in the laundry. They didn't know which room it was from so put it in the safe until we rang.

Don't give up but do go to speak to an actual human being. Stressing that you have crying children can't hurt. Good luck

I also think this is more likely error than a theft. I'd clear that up by checking before you really accuse a housekeeper of stealing. We have had teddies go through the laundry at WDW twice. Once we got it back once we didn't, but that time I have to be honest it didn't occur to me it had been stolen......

As others have said it sounds more like they got wrapped up in the sheets. Hope they turn up.

We had to take Winnie the Pooh with us on every trip but as he got older I started to take him of the bed each morning rather than risk him going missing. Travelled with us for 18+ years :rotfl2: After 60 trips abroad and almost 21 years old he is too precious to take. Last year was the first year he stayed at home, poor Winnie.:goodvibes

as long as you left a few jars of honey, I'm sure the pooh was fine

I bring a bear with me and either lock him in the case or carry it around the parks (i'm a big child he's a bit the like the pooh bear mentioned though been coming on holidays for years.) I hope you get the toys back but in the meantime maybe lock all your youngest DD's stuff in the case so she's not scared to leave the room.

Seriously, with all the valuables people leave in rooms, do you really think someone stole two old stuffed toys? They might mean a lot to your children, but are completely worthless to anyone else. Getting rolled up and tossed into the laundry with all the linens is a much more likely explanation.

Why on earth would you jump to the conclusion they were stolen?

Go to the front desk, explain what happened, describe the toys. Don't accuse.

gutted for your kids. My dd has a teddy she is very attached to and I dread her losing it. We have also just returned from OKW and after reading of other teddies going missing with the bed sheets we put the teddy in the tv cabinet every day.

Hopefully the teddies will turn up for you

I'd like to know too if you got the teddies back.

We're back now...
And no the toys haven't turned up yet.

As I said I can easily believe the little one got caught up in the bed sheets, but the other toy was quite big, it was also a "collectible" toy and was only released in the UK. They go for significant amounts of money on Ebay to collectors all over the world.

We tried again at reception and we filled in a "lost items" ticket, they told us the laundry goes off-site for two weeks and housekeeping said that they had never seen the toys. Oh and just to confirm I didn't accuse anyone of stealing whilst I was there (only in my head)

It did spoil the holiday on top of the fact our first room was right next to a bus-stop and I couldn't sleep for all the beeping everytime a bus stopped through the night till 2.00am, then they took all our dining credits away, in error, and we only found out when a waitress in Tusker house told us we would have to pay cash for our youngest daughters birthday breakfast and marched us into a little room, when we refused and asked to speak with the manager to try and sort it out.

If they do arrive back in the post I'll let you know, but I've already tracked down and ordered some replacements so I'm going to try and pretend to the girls that they were found and sent to us.

Sounds like you had a bad time but don't give up hope - things do get returned once you are home :goodvibes Large cuddly toys have gone to the laundry before too so I would still expect that is where they are...

As an FYI for future - if you are not happy with your room request to move they will do their best to accommodate you. Also with the DDP credits - the quickest and easiest thing would have been to pay at TH and then sort it back in the resort - they would have refunded you and taken the credits off.
