I apologize, as I know this was kind of brought up in a different thread, but my question is a little more specific.

If I plan on parking at the Toy Story parking lot, what time should I get there in order to make it for rope drop?

@WonkaKid goes regularly and rope drops after parking in Toy Story parking. Hopefully he can offer some good advice.

Actually, I (nearly) always park in Pixar Pals or Mickey and Friends. To rope drop, I arrive at around 6:40. The structure(s) open at 7:00 and I can be at the park gates at around 7:17. The seem to let people into the park earlier and earlier. Sometimes I'll arrive at the gates at 7:15 and guests are already streaming in. In any case, I'm usually at the rope no later than 7:30.

Thank you for your help!

We took Toy Story shuttle to park to rope drop in August. They have security lines there until like 11am so we got to security at 7, on shuttle by 7:10 and the picture I took inside park was at 7:34.

I timed both taking the bus from that lot, and walking from the Homewood next door over two days.

For the bus, we left the Hilton Homewood at 6:45am and walked to the parking lot entrance on Harbor. There is a footpath to the left of the entry kiosks that all the waiting cars are lined up at.

At 6:50pm they opened the pedestrian entry gate, and we walked through the parking lot to a very short line of people waiting at security. Walking in we beat all the cars to security as they weren’t let in until 7am or just before.7am.

Security opened at 7am and we were on the first bus arriving at Disneyland around 7:12am. Lines at the ticket gates were already somewhat long.

The next day I left the hotel at 6:30am and walked to the Parks along Harbor Blvd which took 15 minutes. There was a small line waiting at the tent for security to open at 7am. Once that opened I was through security and in a short line at the park entry gate.

Walking up was better in the mornings if you are willing to leave the hotel at 6:30am.
Either way you are in the parks for rope drop.
We always took the bus back at night.

I parked at Toy Story lot during 4th of July. I can’t remember the actual timing but I was there when the lot opened at 7am. I was maybe the 2nd line of people in the fantasyland side waiting for rope drop.

I prefer Toy Story over Mickey and friends as their just seems to be less waiting and walking.

I always park in the Toy Story lot. I’ve sat in my car for over an hour, waiting to exit the parking garages on many occasions. If you have a long wait for the bus or choose to walk, it probably doesn’t save time to park at Toy Story but I find it less aggravating.

That is so interesting. I’ve only had that problem one time and there was a problem (accident or something). When do you usually leave the parking structure?

We usually stay until close. Like I said, it’s not every time but it’s happened enough.

This is probably why I’ve not experienced it. I’ve only stayed until close a few times and it was always when I was staying in hotel rather than driving in for the day. Good to know!
