I read on another website that TSMM is expanding into the adjacent sound stage. The website claimed that an entirely new track and ride system is being installed to increase capacity. Is this 'official' or just a rumor? If it is actually happening what is the expected opening time frame?

Now the real question, if this expansion takes place, will Disney increase the number of FP+ available for the attraction or let the stand by line become more manageable?

the current rumor is the new track would be for FP+ only i would assume they will use the old fast pass line at the original one for people with DAS that don't have a fP+ for the ride

Permits filed and finish date is Sept 2016. Was there last week. Black tarps are over all the windows and walls then a construction wall in front of that. You could sit on the benches and hear the equipment running in there, backup beeps and lots of banging. Guessing they are gutting the innards.

And they need another one. Broke down three times while we were there in Jan.

Really Disney...late 2016 completion dates??? Essentially a year and a half to build an expansion of a tried and true attraction? Both of which are screen based with existing media. Both attractions are immediately adjacent to backstage areas that have direct contractor access without disrupting the guests. Who manages Disney's construction projects? Wish I had those time frames to finish my projects...

I sure hope late 2016 only refers to Soarin and TSMM will finish much sooner than that. I could understand the time frame if there was extensively detailed sets and what not, but neither TSMM or Soarin are exactly detailed when it comes to physical environments.

TSMM Permits filed state September 30, 2016 for completion deadline.

"Here at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, we’re always making investments to exceed your expectations – whether it’s creating new attractions and entertainment or making existing experiences even better."

I love how according to Dinsey, "exceeding my expectations" is providing either A) a line with less than a 120 minute wait or B) the ability to book a FP+ even if I am staying off site. My expectations sure are low .
