I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but the 'Creative' section seemed the best fit.

TEMPLATES AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE BELOW

After a recent trip to WDW and Toy Story Mania my wife and I were inspired to do a room for our youngest son based on Andy's room from Toy Story 1 and the Toy Story Mania ride theming.

The walls were first painted blue and the wainscoting was put up. We made templates for the big and small clouds and then we set forth on laying them out so they best resembled Andy's room. The clouds were painted first in a very light grey. We made another couple other templates for the highlight on the cloud that we came back and sponged in white that matched the wainscoting.

This is what we came up with.

Here is the sign on the outside of the door

Templates and Instructions (when I say I, I mean we, my wife and I):
I made 3 separate templates from the one image below:
1. Small Cloud
2. Large Cloud
3. Highlights of Large Cloud

I first took the large and small cloud templates and painted (small roller) those in a very light grey on the wall. The layout was the most time consuming I thought. After all the clouds were painted on in the very light grey I then took white paint with the same large and small cloud templates and added (sponged) the highlight to each of the clouds individually. Take notice that the large cloud has highlights that extend into the inner portions of the cloud. This is where I made the second large cloud template so that I could add the inner highlights. It really is just templates, layout and time. :)

I have access to spent x-ray film and that was what I used to make my templates. I think you could cut them out of poster board if you were really hard up, but I am sure all of you creative people will have some substitute.

So when are you going to come down and do Taylor's room?

Great job! The clouds look 3-dimensional. There is no way they would have turned out that good if I had made them. It looks like wallpaper.

Did you see toy story 3? If so...how much did your wife cry at the end? You will remember this room when he leaves home for the first time.

I saw TS3. My wife has not seen TS3 yet. I have not told her anything about it. We will remember this room for a while I imagine. :)

Great job!!!!! Both of my girls want their room to look like this now. :)

It is quite easy, just took time. You are going to grant their wish right? :)

Can I have the templates and the materials you used?? I'm doing this for my son and I was going to buy them but the ones you made look way better than what I have seen. If you could please at least tell me what materials you used that would help me out a lot! Thanks

This is awesome! Toy Story is my classroom theme this year. Do you have templates? How did you do the alien on the door? Fantastic job. Kudos!

He's already got a killer room! If so, you can use my templates. I think TS3 will be on the Wonder in 3D. :3dglasses

I will post the templates very soon. I have access to used xray film so I initially printed the clouds out on paper and traced those onto the xray film and then cut those out. I will have all the particulars when I post the templates.

Wainscoting is a breeze to install. It just takes a little time and patience.

i was wondering if you ever posted the templates you used for the clouds i would really like to use them for my sons room thanks

This is amazing. I just did a search for "aliens" and came across this.

Real great job! :)

I have received PM's about posting the templates which have been up for a while. I thought a post in the thread might make it easier to find for everyone.

ps - if you do your own please post some pics of the finished project
