Tom Hanks Says Toy Story 4 Is In The Works
Posted on Mon Jun 27, 2011 04:13 PM PDT

LONDON, UK -- Tom Hanks has told British radio station the BBC that Toy Story 4 is being worked on already.

Toy Story 3 won this year's Oscar for Best Animated Feature and had a global box office take of $1,063,171,911.

In the wake of that success, Hanks says another film is being made. "I think there will be, yeah," he said. "I think they're working on it now."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -Catches Breath-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It should be 3 at most. 4 is gonna ruin it.

I agree. I think Disney needs to quit while they're ahead with this one. All I can see for TS4 is disaster.

I though they were sticking with the shorts for Toy Story like the Hawaiian Vacation, just won't be the same without Andy.

I wouldn't even say it's necessarily that...It's just that they had a REALLY GOOD ENDING with TS3, and I think that all they can possibly do with 4 is flop. HopefulLY I'm wrong though..

I really really liked 3, it was the perfect ENDING to a good TRILOGY. C'mon Disney, you do something good and now you try to ruin it...

I think Disney is to lazy to come up with a new story line. Toy Story 3 was a nice ending. They should let Woody and his friends retire in peace.

I would rather see them do a second movie for The Incredibles and let Toy Story end at 3.

(First, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed Hawaiian Vacation.) :)

I agree with Topper -- Hanks, voice of one of the leads in the films, said it with uncertainty (and very casually at that).

I'm hoping Pixar, after Monsters University, will move away from the sequels/prequels for a while. The thing that sets them apart from other companies is their originality. Yes, they do good sequels, but they also come up with some of the best original stories that animation has to offer. :3dglasses

YES!!!!!!!!!!! It was left to have a sequel and If i remember correctly it was planned, then cancelled when Disney Shortened the number of movies a year they were going to make.

Heard about this the other day. It's exactly what I'd expect of Disney (they're making that straight-to-DVD Planes thing to tie in with Cars, independent of Pixar), but I'm really, really disappointed with Pixar if it's true.

To be honest I'm already disappointed that Pixar spent time making a sequel to Cars - the only possible reason they could have had for making a sequel to their worst rated film (second worst now after the reviews I've seen for Cars 2) is more merchandising. Again, I expect that from Disney, but not where Pixar is involved.

The thing I liked about the latest version was how they left the story open for new adaptations later. The girl has the toys now... she's 7 or 8 in the film, right? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeenty of years in her life for Disney to milk another 3 films out of the franchise. (said with a bit of sarcasm)

But, really, this is a franchise I wouldn't mind continuing on. Pixar does an excellent job of sequels (as evidenced by TS3, IMO). I say go for it. :wizard:

If Bonnie is still attending Sunnyside she's probably 4 or 5 years old.

I love her character, but I think they should stop with 3. Pixar made it perfectly clear that the toys will stick together and find a new owner whenever their previous kid grows up. They toys are great, I love those movies, but I like the idea of Pixar coming up with NEW ideas that no one has thought of.

I couldn't believe Cars 2. I was a fan of Cars... I didn't think it was horrible. Cars 2 just ruined my confidence in Pixar. Cars and Toy Story made them the most money in merchandising, so that is obviously the reason they keep making more. I think I'll cry if they make a Toy Story 4 and it's a flop.

Pixar definitely needs to stay away from making sequels. While they are great cash-grabs, the overall quality and novelty, of what made the original movies great, is diminished. Walt Disney, himself, was against the idea of sequels. Toy Story was one of the few trilogies whose quality stayed constant throughout. But 4 is too much.
