I read somewhere that no weapons are allowed onboard, including toy or real. However, I keep seeing photographs of folks with toy swords on pirate night. I had already told DD11 that she could not bring the sword with her pirate costume. But, can she?

Thanks,
Peg

Our grandsons were given light up toy swords in the FE exchange. They loved them and there were a bunch of swords at pirate night.

As long as they are obviously kid's toy sword's and not plastic or rubber replica's then they should be fine.

If your flying then the airport or airline may want to inspect them before you fly to check they are not genuine!

As you have seen in the picture's posted, a certain level of common sense is applied on the ship's given the nature of the activity!

HTH!

They sell them on board, so yes. If you're flying you'll just need to pack it in your checked baggage, but other than that, no problem! I didn't feel like packing ours, so we ended up buying them for our boys on pirate night (the ones they got were $2.95).

Here's some friends of ours. As you can see, they had no trouble getting theirs onboard.

Are you guys Renn Faire Folks?? Your costumes are GREAT!!

Our son had a toy dagger with a retractable blade that we had in his luggage and tied onto his hip. He had a bunch of fun showing the dagger to Mickey and then taking turns staging a "death scene" before our pics!!!

Super! DD will be so pleased. LOVE the pictures of the costumes. Any connection to the SCA group? They make pretty cool period costumes!

Oh, wow! Those costumes are amazing! I was not planning anything like that for pirate night! I was thinking a t-shirt and bandana while the kids wear pirate ears and t-shirts. Is that too simple? Do they still give away bandanas on board like I've read in previous discussions?

Thank you. We only "get into" this on the 7 day or longer cruises. Most of these costumes are theatre quality and took about 2 years to make(you should see our Captain Jack). T shirts and bandanas are just fine! You'll see people in all stages of dress on thecruise. Just go and have fun!!!!

Thanks for the info! I don't feel as inferior anymore!
