I met a group of RADPers at the Animal Kingdom on Friday. I had high hopes of finally meeting the elusive Deb Wills, but alas, the weather did not cooperate. Maybe next time.
I had offered to take Fantasia Sam back to the airport, so we left the AK lodge at around 4PM yesterday (December 13th). I said goodbye to Sam at the airport and headed northward. Like the Energizer Bunny, I kept going and going and going...
I arrived home at 8AM this morning. I drove straight through stopping only three times for gasoline and a "bio break". I would have made it home sooner, but I ran into heavy fog in Virginia and REALLY heavy snow in the northern part of West Virginia. I swear that I saw a dozen snow plows on the southbound side of I-77, but not a single plow or salt truck on my side. I only lost control of the van a couple of times, but fortunately I have a lot of experience driving on snow and ice and quickly regained control. It did take me over an hour to drive the last 40 miles of West Virginia. The rest of the trip was uneventful. So now I know that I'm less than 16 hours away from WDW. A dangerous fact.
A sane person would try to get some sleep, but I'm going to see the new Star Trek movie with my kids and my sister's family. And we are supposed to attend a progressive dinner this evening. Yikes. Sounds like I'll have to switch into commando mode.
I had a great time during my 12 nights at WDW. I renewed a lot of friendships and met a whole new group of friends as well. Thanks to everyone who made the last two weeks so very special.
