Please help me decide...

We are cruising in March as a surprise for my DD 11th brithday. We are flying in on Friday and plan to spend the night at the Radisson in Cocoa Beach.

I can't decide between having a towncar pick us up at the airport or renting a car. I'm sure the towncar would be more exciting to her instead of the rental car. Is there anything special I can arrange with the towncar company to help celebrate her birthday? Which towncar company is the best?

Figuring costs the towncar will be about $60.00-100.00 more (roundtrip), but at this point what's another $100.00. I want to make this surprise as special as possible.

Also - I am planning on keeping the "crusie" surprise as long as possible, I guess until she sees the ships :-)

Thanks,

Tammy

Tammy,

The first cruise we went on in 2000 we rented a car and left it at the port since we were going back to WDW it was cheaper to keep the car.

Last summer we went on the 7 day cruise. We flew into Orlando on Friday night and stayed at the airport Hyatt. Not wanting to rent a car and not wanting the bus hassle I looked into Tiffany Town Car. They were the same round trip ($160 + tip) as the bus and alot easier.

We asked them to pick us up at the valet drop off for the Hyatt on the first floor at 9:00 am Sat. At precisely 8:59 Jack arrived to get us. He drove a newer model black Towncar that was just the right size for our family of 4.

As we got on the highway Jack asked if we minded listening to music and we said that no we did not mind. He then turned on his CD player and he had a CD of Disney Tunes ready to play for the kids. (dd 4, ds 9). The kids loved it and it helped them build up excitement for the cruise.

I asked Jack to stop to make a beer & soda run and he said "no problem" he knew just the place. As we approached the Port he got off the highway and pulled into a convienence store so I could pick up the refreshments. He then helped me pack the case of soda & 12 pack of beer in my nylon bag to check at the port.

Jack was a retired man who provided 5 cars to Tiffany and was really great.

The return trip was equally as pleasant although Jack was busy with a regular client the other driver was good to.

I highly recommend Tiffany and plan to use them again when we return next May.

Beware of other recommendations you might receive as some people recommend services that advertise on their web sites. I have no connection to Tiffany, I just read about them on this board and tried them.

If you go on their website the used to have a $5 coupon that you could use each way.

Good luck!

dthogue: Have you thought of getting a stretch limo? We reserved a towncar and due to scheduling or something, we got a stretch limo instead. It was great the kids were excited, and there was a TV with disney videos inside. I checked the price out latter and it was not much more than a towncar!!!
