I just want to make sure this is legit.

I booked a town car with Tiffany. On the site it asks for my flight info and such. There was no place on the form for my credit card or anything.

I got a confirmation email that states I must call their phone number when it's closer to my trip and give the person on the phone my credit card info to hold my reservation for the town car. My card won't be charged, and I'll have to pay the driver directly.

Is this right?

I just feel weird about giving my CC info over the phone like that, especially since they won't be charging it. I'm wondering what they do with my CC info after I give it to them.

:) You ultimately have to make your own decision on this one. But, this has been my experience with Tiffany and they have been the only car service we have ever used. DH and I have used them at least six times over the years and will again in Oct.

I cannot remember ever giving my CC to the guy over the phone. I have been able to give them my CC when we pull up to the resort to pay for the service. On our last trip in May. Mark, our Tiffany driver verified where we would be heading and the price. When we got to AKV I gave him my CC and he seemed uncomfortable and puzzled. He stated that he could not run or call in my card from there and he would have to give it to them. So he wrote the number down and I signed the slip. I apologized for the problem since he said it would be easier if Tiffany had the number. Now he was very professional about all of this and in no way made me uncomfortable. I told him the man on the phone (that I talk to every year for my reservations) didn't ask for my CC#. If he had I would have given it to him. Mark agreed and once DH and I got into AKV he got a text that the CC had been charged within thirty minutes or less. I just don't think the drivers like to be responsible for the paperwork and think they probably want to pull up get their tip and drive away. So Mark must have had to call in the number to TIffany and they ran it. Just an extra step for Mark that he wasn't expecting. I think over the years their policy has changed and there are more CC reservations, and online reservations. So from now on we will give them our number since we are experienced with them.

So when I call in Oct I will give them my CC# over the phone and it will be fine. I have talked to the gentleman several times and the drivers (save one experience in 2006) have been fantastic. We will not use amother service at this point. If you want a good driver request Waseem or Mark--very professional, helpful and nice.

I am actually more uncomfortable filling out that online form than I am giving him my CC#. I don't know something about given that info out on the WWW makes me fill vulnerable...so I alsways call the reservation in to get a conf#.

Hope this helps and you have a great trip.

Thank you! I have the understanding I would be paying the first driver in full for the round trip service, plus his/her tip, and all of that was to be in cash.
I guess they need my credit card info to protect themselves against fake reservations or something?

Thanks for the recommendations for drivers. We haven't used Tiffany since 2004, but had great service then. We're looking forward to using them again this time. I was just confused about the calling with credit card info.

We have used Tiffany every year since 2000. Our April 2011 trip was the first time I had to give a CC number prior to the trip. When I called, the person who answered the phone said this was a new policy.

No problems at all, great service as usual.

When I use a local limo service here in Pittsburgh to the airport during bad winter weather they ask for a credit card #. They don't actually charge it until the ride. If I book it roundtrip, they will charge each way on the day of the rides. I think they want to verify the number plus they will charge it if you no show.

I've never used Tiffany but have used Happy Limo many times and they always ask for a cc #. They bill our card about 1 week prior. I believe it's to protect their themselves in case of no show. I like having it taken care of ahead of time. The day before they call me to give me the driver's name & cell ph #. Never had a problem with it all.
