Tours/Experiences at Disney

My wife and I have done Keys to the Kingdom, Caring for Giants, Up Close with Rhinos, Segway tour in EPCOT (no longer offered) and Segway Tour at Fort Wilderness. All were excellent but the Segway in EPCOT was our favorite.
Segway Tour at EPCOT was our favorite too!

Probably best to see what sort of tours are currently offered. We did a behind the Disney scenes tour many years ago that was excellent, but no longer offered. The tour of the Land was also worthwhile and I believe reasonably priced and still offered.

I did Behind the Seeds many years ago and the first part of the tour was watching a video that largely featured insects, so I averted my gaze, but the rest was great.

I loved Keys to the Kingdom. Great fun to be in the Utilidors and really the entire tour was fantastic.

Caring for Giants and the Rhino tour are both excellent. I've done the Giants tour 3 times and will definitely do it again.

I've also done a tour that I think no longer exists: Wild by Design at DAK. I was extremely disappointed by this tour as I'd thought it was going to be an in-depth view of how the park was designed but in fact it wasn't and I was both unamused and quite bored--so I don't even remember what it was about! But I do remember that it was freezing cold and pouring rain that day, so besides being bored I was cold and wet!

Does anyone know if this tour is still offered at Wilderness Lodge? We'll be there next week.

We have only done 2 tours,
Keys to the Kingdom was fabulous and so much fun to see the utilidors and areas we are not allowed. We got to enter the Haunted Mansion through the unseen hallways that the cast members us. This was many years ago and I don't know what they do now.

We did Caring for Giants too. I am a big fan of elephants and was so excited for this tour. Unlike a previous poster, we did not have a good experience on this tour. We were bused to the area behind the scenes which is directly across from the Safari route. The elephants did not get even a little bit close and they stayed over by the Safari route. No one talked about caring for Elephants at all. There was a nice African lady there who talked about her country, which was the only good thing about this tour. I guess my expectations were too high. I thought caring for giants would actually involve Caring for giants, as in close up viewing of actual care (feeding, medical care, training, grooming, etc),, not just standing and looking at them from far away. Maybe they have changed this experience, I don't know. This was at least 6 years ago, before covid. And maybe this was one time that the tour didnt work out?
I just know we were disappointed in this tour. I wish I had something good to say about it besides the nice African lady.

If you are a gardener I strongly recommend the Behind the Seeds tour. My 82 year old MIL did it with us on her scooter and had no problems. Disney gardeners are amazing. Their massive yields in small spaces is impressive.

Thanks for the tip about the ECV. That's one reason I'm hesitant to do tours these days. Also, specifically regarding the Behind the Seeds tour. Did anyone here ever do it way back when it was free (I remember in 2001)? And then do it at its current price (Is it $40 now?) I often wonder what the difference is. The big thing I remember is that for free, I was the only guest with two tour guides.

I've used a scooter on many of the tours. Disney and CM's are very accommodating.

I did Seeds when it was $8. I did Epcot fireworks cruise in 1999, $85. Now, $445. The Mouse is hungrier.

The mouse must be starving Dan!!! We are going on another big family trip in August 2025 and the kids asked me about the fireworks cruise and I told them for $5,000 we could do the cruise but not eat all week. They haven't asked since!!!

 Haha, good way to move to a different subject, Steve. It certainly has gotten costly to go there.

Every time I look at the price of airfare from Canada, hotels, meals, entrance costs etc. Plus with the Canadian dollar so low... maybe next year. Its been too long already!

OMG!!! Is that the cost for the pontoon boat tour, or is it on the cabin cruiser type ship? I remember doing Epcot fireworks cruises multiple times over the years. People would "rent out" their available seats to offset the cost of the cruise. I remember paying maybe $10-$15pp, "back in the day."
