With a trip in December my husband is really looking forward to visiting and touring Fort Wilderness. We have never even been on the property, but we really want to see the Christmas decor and such. So just how should be do this? Renting bikes and riding throughout the campground? Golf cart? What method works well? I am sure that renting a golf cart will be pricey, right? But so would four bikes too, right? Anyway, this will be an extremely important tour that he is really looking forward too so I want to get it right!

I am actually thinking of maybe eating breakfast at Fort Wilderness and making it at least a half day excursion.

We've done this before and usually just walk. There are many displays and it's hard to see them all but some of the best are right near the Settlement.

The displays are best seen at night as many of them are inflatables and light up. Instead of doing breakfast, I would consider having dinner at Trails End (or HDDR) and booking a private sleigh ride. We did HDDR at 4 pm last year and then did a 6:30 pm sleigh ride. It was dark by then and it was a perfect time to see everything lit up. There were also carolers in a wagon circling around the area which added to the festive atmosphere.

Yes, go at night to see everything lit up, not breakfast. Golf cart rental p/up is 1pm, I believe. But super fun to drive around. $60 a day. I say rent a golf cart, ride around a bit and explore campground in daylight, horses, etc., it’s huge. Have lunch or dinner, go to campfire with chip and dale, about 6 or 7 pm that time of year...can watch fireworks from the beach there on the loungers, then go to front and return golf cart, just drop keys in key return bin. Only possibly tricky part is getting back to your resort from there...Minnie van? Its so peaceful at the fort, not like your typical Disney resort, IMO. I will say, it could b cold at night riding on golf cart. We were there last Halloween and had to cover up with a blanket and took coffee while looking at the decorations via golf cart. Look for the number for the bike barn to rent golf cart. Reserve now, they charge your card a few days before rental. Enjoy!
