Hi! New here with a question - I'll be going to WDW with DH, DS 13 and DS 9 on Jan. 1-4, staying at the Poly. Only booked 2 weeks ago. Can't wait!! We only have 2 days to go to the parks-Jan. 2 and 3. I am planning 1 day each at MK and Epcot with no park hopper (since it's only 2 days). This will be our 4th visit to WDW but it's been 3 years since the last one. We've always gone early Jan. I have UG and will try to (loosely) follow the touring plan.

Here's my question: I was originally going to go to Epcot on Jan. 2 (before park opens) since there are morning EMH, take a break and then return to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations. The next day would be MK and there are no EMH anywhere. However, I keep reading to stay away from the EMH park. Should I switch the days around? We would then have no EMH either day. Also, when giving me much needed advice, it's worth knowing that MK is open until 11:00 pm on Jan. 2 but only until 9:00 pm on Jan. 3.

So, which park on which day would be more efficient, less crowded?

I'll have a liitle trouble with my AR's if I change plans but it might be worth it!

Thanks for any and all advice and opinions!

I would imagine the crowds will still be significant on Jan. 2 because I think most kids are still out of school.

In my experience morning EMH at Epcot is pretty good IF you get there when they open. If you dawdle around and get there late then it will be crowded. On the other hand, Epcot handles crowds better than the other parks just because of it's size.

I would think the 11 PM closing might make MK even worse for crowds, so I might go with the 9 PM closing and plan to hustle early in the morning before things get really jam packed.

Good luck! :)

I'd keep your plans the way they are. As mentioned, Epcot handles the crowds better. We always head there when our original park gets too crowded. It might be dicey until World Showcase opens at 11:00 but then everyone really spreads out. Since you will be at the Polynesian, I'd recomend walking over to the TTC and getting the monorail to Epcot from there.

yes, i'd say stay with your park plans as are. jan 2-3 may still be crwoded if people plan on taking a day or two before heading back to school.

during emh do the three majors soarin, test track and mission space. that way you'll have them out of the way. UG says to FP soarin(during regular hours) and go ride TT and MS. during emh you can probably ride all three and not need a FP. after that you're pretty much on your own in what to see depending on your kids likes and dislikes. might be a good idea in considering splitting group if your 13 and 9 yo like different things.

when you have a short time utilizing emh is a good idea as well as using FP as much as possible. go on high capacity(fast loading) rides instead of slow loaders. epcot has many. mk has a few continuous loaders such as small world(but unloads slow). haunted mansion, buzz etc.

regardless just relax and enjoy yourself. because you have a short time don't try to squeeze it all in. pick the must do's and concentrate on them.

have fun

Thanks for the responses! I think that I'll keep things as originally planned. :)
