This is our 1st trip to DL at the end of June (going on blockout days-4 days total). Are their touring plans for DL ( we use TGM for WDW)? If not, Can you give me some suggestions on touring? It will be me, DH, and our triplets (turn 10 during the trip).

Thanks!

By far the best option for touring plans at DLR is RideMax www.ridemax.com. BTW, RM also has a version for WDW. At WDW we use a mixture of TGM and RM. :wizard:

Yeah, Ride Max is probably your best bet. They can provide you the best touring plan based on what day you're going and what you want to do.

I've never used Ridemax, but I have used and love the touring plans in The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. They update this book every year, so be sure to get the 2010 version. I always get it from the library, so I don't have to keep buying the book, but it's been a great resource for me. :goodvibes

RideMax is constantly updated. Thus it can adjust for any changes in the parks. Best resource there is. IMO

Another vote for Ridemax. :thumbsup2 A great benefit of using this program is how detailed and personalized the plans are. You can specify a lot of your preferences into the plans.

Whatever you decide, have a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks! Is ridemax user friendly- especially if we've never been to DL? We want to see EVERYTHING!

It is totally user friendly and fun to play with too. I have been to Disneyland hundreds of times, really, and I get Ridemax for every trip. My hubby makes mad fun of me for it but I don't care. ;) There is a thread around here about getting the most from Ridemax.

Thanks. I will have to go find it.

Any touring plan is better than none. :thumbsup2

My concern about printed touring plans is they go out-of-date so quickly. What happens when a new attraction like Captain EO opens mid-year? RM can handle this. Printed plans cannot.

See The Perils of Printed Guidebooks: Outdated Info in the Unofficial Guide to DLR

Another thing I prefer about RM is that it allows you to specify what time you will arrive, what time you will leave, and specify going on the same ride multiple times.

Even so, you are quite right that UG does offer DLR touring plans. Not sure if PassPorter offers touring plans. The RM software and the UG book are the only two of which I know. :)

I gave the website link earlier in the thread. :)
See why I need a plan to tell me where to go and when? My DH says that the triplets sucked out what few good brain cells I had left. I'm sooo observant! ;) :rolleyes1

Can you give me some suggestions on touring?
At WDW, I avoid the EMH parks.

But at DLR, I'm a huge fan of the Magic Mornings! :thumbsup2

Ridemax is probably better than any other, but even with Ridemax I'd ask questions here & follow the advice & strategies offered here. (not instead of Ridemax, but in addition to Ridemax) For example I prefer HydroGuy's FP collection strategy over what RideMax suggested. Also, i don't believe Ridemax includes MM, which most of us believes is the BEST time to enjoy 6-8 slow loading rides.

But i agree that having ANY plan is better than having NO plan. Having a plan means you've done some research, looked at the Maps & have some good basic knowledge. This alone puts one ahead of 80% of DLR's visitors.

Doing some reasearch & having a little knowledge also makes it easier to enjoy what Hydroguy has termed...."informed spontaenaity" (sp?), a very descriptive term which comes in handy when rides are down, FP times are off or a character shows up & throws the "plan" out of whack.

Many of us "have a plan" the first 2-3 hours & then "go with the flow" the rest of the day because our first 2-3 hours were so productive (& because we have 4-6 FPs in our pocket for later :thumbsup2).

But Ridemax is definitely worth it (imo). Subscribe with Ridemax. Spend a few hours fooling around with it (with a MAP handy). Then read tips & strategies here. After a couple of days you'll be a Guru! :hippie:

Does anyone know of any FREE touring plans? I just can't see myself spending money on something I may not use (If the parks aren't busy) Plus, I already have the unoffical guide to DL which has a touring plan, I just don't like that its only 2 days and we will be there for 4. I typed everything into excel anyway... I'm probably out of luck?

thank you both!

I just noticed that you are WDW vets. Hydroguy rarely toots his own horn so i will. This is the absolute primer for any WDW Vet visiting DLR for the first time (you probably already came across it, but if not....):

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

Hound is right that Ridemax doesn't offer MM's, but they do have a suggested order in which to ride the most common available during that hour. I also agree that Ridemax is a good way to form together all the info you gather here, and that Hydro's FP strategy works far better than what Ridemax suggests. :worship:
