I'm in the process of planning our 1st trip to DL and I'm reading and trying to fill myself in on the basics. From what I've read it sounds like park hopping is the way to go. When it comes to creating a touring plan I've read on here that Ridemax works better. I've looked at the touringplans.com DL plans and it looks like they don't have plans that allow you to hop from park to park so you'd have to figure that part on your own and basically make 2 plans for the one day with start and stop times. Is ridemax the same?

Have you looked at the RideMax for Disney parks on Facebook? and their website?

It looks like it would be a real handy item to have during busy crowded days.

Ridemax came VERY much in handy for us during busy spring break time last year! We didn't wait for ANYTHING for longer than 20 minutes because of the way the ridemax program helped us plan our day! It was packed some days while we were there too! Touring plans had a couple of the days at 9's our out 10!! :scared1:

I've used Ridemax on 2 trips and I love it. We do spend quite a few days in the park, so we don't really have to plan out everything as precisely as we would if we were only there for a weekend, so what I do is plan 2 or 3 full days with Ridemax, including everything that we want to do. If we haven't hit some of those rides after meandering around on our own, or if we find we are standing in lines way too long, we dig out the Ridemax plans and follow them. It is a very useful program and I will be purchasing it again for my next trip!

Have not tried touring plans, but I loooove Ridemax.

For Ridemax you do have to make two different plans, one for Disneyland and one for DCA. (unless it has changed since I used it). We just put in what hours we are going to be at what park and what rides we want to be on and do it twice, once for each park.

However: if you followed Hydroguys tips you'll see where he just played around with it to make up his own plans. It can run several (infinite) scenarios and you can use that to make your own plan.

We are going to park hop (Dis then Dca then Break then Dca, then Dis again) and I am going to use ridemax.

We did this too!! Worked amazingly well to keep us out of lines, yet also gave us the ability to wing it as we saw fit too!

Yes. I found their website but it didn't really let you see what it looked like so I was unsure of how simular it is to Touringplans.com

Thanks for the tip. I was able to find a couple threads where he mentions his strategy. It seems a little over my head but I will continue to study what he suggests and see if I can figure it out. Wouldn't it be nice if there was just a program where you could enter everything you want to do and they just tell you where and when to be? I've heard enough good things about Ridemax I think I'm sold on them.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

maybe we should suggest a RideMax hopping upgrade on the Facebook or their site. I was going to try and park hop but my parents and sis & BIL decided to join us for two of our days. That's OK because that means we get the Military 3 day hopper for $99 and lots of precious memories.
