OK i am doing a week of WDW August 17th. I am planning on going to IOA for one day. I will have my Parents with us they are in thier 60's and Me and Wifey with our 7 1/2 year old daughter.

3 of us love thrill ride Parents will not go so here is the question, in looking at TP Crowd Calander for WDW vs. IOA for the same week WDW is at 2 thru 5 and IOA has 7's and 8's with the exception of a 6 on Friday and Saturday and a 5 on Sunday the end of the week. IS this true and is IOA going to be that crowded.

Thanks

Looking at a couple of other calendars, one shows crowd levels similar to Touring Plans, another shows them moderate. Crowd calendar projections are based on averages from years past, so it's certainly not an exact science.

That being said, if the crowd level is high on your visit, you can always add the express pass to your tickets. Without it, and with only 1 day, you may not cover everything. The new Diagon Alley Harry Potter expansion will be open then, so that will certainly affect the overall crowds (even though it's on the Studios side).

Thanks,

Do you think with the express pass i could hit the must do's in 1 day at IOA?

I don't think that would be out of the realm of possibility at all. The Express Pass lines, even when the park is at it's busiest, have a significantly shorter wait. The only thing you would have to plan for would be Forbidden Journey (not part of Express Pass system). Either go straight there at park opening, or wait til the last couple of hours of the day.

In general the best "free crowd calendar" out there is to look at the price of express passes on the universal web site. With the new section of HP expected to be open over at USF everyone is expected this summer to be busy. US express passes are expected to be near peak prices all summer. IOA are quite that high the days you said were moderately crowded.

Plan on the crowds..We were there August 18-25th last year and it was ALOT more crowded than we had planned on, resort prices were value pricing, but the crowds were NOT .We used several crowd calendars. All said lower crowds.Touring plans had the crowds accurate. It was very busy .We stayed onsite and had express pass but noticed that the standby lines for Spiderman were 90 mins at one point, Forbidden journey was 90 mins,Hulk was 60 mins, Despicable Me was 90 mins, Transformers was 60 mins etc..
KEEP in mind this was LAST YEAR ..This year has Diagon Alley opening at the studios and that will pack the parks .

I can tell you that I went last year the first week in sept, and we didn't wait no more than 10 mins tops to get on some kids. it was great

that being said. does anyone know how the crowds will be aug 27th on? about until sept 2nd?

I am going to check the fast pass prices, cause the prices tell you what universal predicts how the crowds will be. but wanted to know if anyone has gone these days

It's going to be very busy this summer since Diagon Alley is opening. You can throw out any previous experience with crowds...everything is going to change.

This is excellent advice, I often do that. If the Express passes are the cheapest, or near cheapest price you don't need them anyway. Diagon Alley will cause crowds and I expect, like Forbidden Journey, the Express Pass will not be valid to ride the Gringott's coaster or Hogwart's Express.
